Recommended prepay virtual debit card?

I want to use a prepay to buy stuff online with new sites I may not trust with my info.

I signed up to ecopayz today but after doing a search for 'ecopayz review' I saw some disconcerting information.

Also I saw they are based in latvia which rings some alarm bells as to legitimacy.

Someone said you arent allowed to use the card until you upgrade to silver and insodoing you have to pay fees as well as provide lots of info.

So it soudns like a classic bait and switch technique of waving the carrot and pulling it away.

So are there any other ones where you can get going right away and no hidden tricks like that? or maybe if anyone could affirm ecopays legitimacy and how much of a rigmarole it is to acutally get up and running. I like their premise on ecopay of a new virtual card per transaction.

Also Id like to not have to provide identity information since I don't see why I should need to if it's just a simple transaction of money between two parties. I always worry about identity theft with this kind of stuff so why would I give out some of the most important documants you own to some unknown site.

Verification might be required in most cases to prevent fraud (preventing stolen debit/credit card top ups etc)

Neteller is one of the common ones by a huge UK company (https://companycheck.co.uk/company/04478861/OPTIMAL-PAYMENTS-LIMITED/summary)

    https://www.neteller.com/en/features/cards/virtual

    Alternatively, see:

Well verification isn't AS bad if they are a reputable company used successfully by many, and if it were a mandatory thing I guess Id reluctantly do it.

If you have a smart phone I would recommend using Revolut.

    https://revolut.com/

You get a virtual card, Plus a physical one which is free, The entire card is free. You can exchange between dollar and Euro plus Pound all for free but currency exchange rates apply of course.

Only verification is needed if you plan to deposit thousands, You just scan your driving licence or passport using their app.

Yes Ive read the post about prepay cards but they don't necessarly have virtual cards do they.

Neteller is looking promising. Signed up and no sign of having to verify yet so long as I stick to virtual which is all I want. Gotta make a small deposit first though before I can be sure. £3.25 Not so bad if all goes awry :D

Wow tons of bad reviews tho. for neteller ppl grumlbing giving 1 and 2 stars saying they steal money. I don't know if they are just the loudest minority though :)

No smart phone nor any intention of ever getting one :)

I don't think that Neteller will steal people's money. As long as you can pass their pretty stringent ID verification checks, you should have no problem. Those who can't get their money out of Neteller are most likely people involved in "gnoming" - i.e. pretending to be someone else for the purposes of online gambling, and then being unable to prove their ID.

I have only used their electronic wallet, not their card. Whilst I had no issues with passing their ID checks, I stopped using them as they kept blocking my account every time my IP address changed, and unblocking involved endless phone calls, despite me having a VIP account. They were also a lot more expensive than some other electronic wallet. Depending on your use, the fees might be negligible. But expect that you have to complete their ID verification, and I gather they are still blocking accounts that change IP.

Unless I've read it wrong, or something is hidden, there is no ID check to use a virtual debit card online, which is all I want to do.

Loading is apparently free as well as transactions to online merchants.

All Neteller accounts are subject to ID requirements, which they can request at random times. You can pre-empt this by pro-actively verifying yourself. http://blog.neteller.com/2011/08/23/how-to-verify-your-account/

EDIT: in fact, I think they are saying you must verify your account before you can use the prepaid card.
Verifying your account also gives you access to the Net+ Prepaid MasterCard®: spend online or anywhere MasterCard is accepted right from your eWallet, or withdraw your money at any ATM on the Cirrus or Maestro networks.
The process of getting your account is verified is very easy and enables you to apply for a Net+ Mastercard which is a prepaid Mastercard which can be used at almost all stores, online shops or just getting money out of the ATM!

I've used Entropay (https://www.entropay.com/prepaid-virtual-visa) in the past with no problems and am fairly sure I never had to provide any form of ID verification when originally setting up with them.
