    The number on the website is for Telephone Banking.

    The direct number for the Online Applications team is 0800 056 0035.

    Did you pick a branch?
    It would then normally generate a sort code and account number based upon that?

    Yes,I chose a branch.Don't remember seeing a sort code at that point.About to phone them now.
    It sounds like I have done something wrong....
    Never mind.

    Well,I have just phoned Halifax.
    The man I spoke to,after checking a few of my personal details,said I should have got an email with my sort-code shortly after applying.He said,based on my details,he can see there is a profile for me,but he cannot access it-only the "online banking" team can do that,and they are not open on a Sunday.
    He offered to start a new application for me,but reminded me of credit serches if one has already been done this week.
    I will wait til tomorrow.No problem.

    I have just got off the phone to Halifax.
    The lady I spoke to said she could see I had made an application on 9th November,and would just check to see what was going on.
    She got back to me a minute later and explained that my application had been " caught in a loop".She explained that what happens is when an online application is made,"the system" generates a status,then sends an email.Sometimes (like this time),the system gets trapped in a loop trying to generate a sort code.She said it is a known issue,and apologised.
    Gave me my sort code and account number,told me I am now able to set up online banking and use my account.My card and PIN have now been ordered :j.
