On Monday night I applied online for the Halifax Reward account.I have heard absolutely nothing back from them: no "welcome-we will process your application" email, nothing in the post,......
I had read others saying it can take a few days, and they had heard nothing until they got stuff in the mail, but do you think this is normal?
The only thing that makes me a bit worried is that after I applied,I didn't immediately close down the window. When I checked later,a message popped up to say that the session had expired.
The site says to not apply for another account until you have heard about this application-just wondering if I need to do anything. On their site there seemed to be no number to try for anyone who was not already a customer.
Thank you.

I applied on the 1st and got the acceptance on Wednesday (11th.) Did the screen show that a sort code and account number had been reserved for you?

Unfortunately checking your credit file for the credit search doesn't confirm that the application has gone through. I had the site come up with a technical error before I'd completed the application (this was a few weeks before) and they credit searched me! I ended up with a second set of searches for the application that actually went through.

I still have this email in my inbox that, IIRC, I received very soon after applying, possibly on the next day:
Your new current account is now all set up and ready for you to use.
    ...
What happens next? Online Banking – you'll shortly receive confirmation of the username you chose in a separate email. You will also be sent a welcome letter in the post within the next 7 days with your activation code needed to access all Online Banking features – you will only need to enter this once. Account card - you'll receive your account card and Personal Identification Number (PIN) in the post.
    ...
That said, there is no any 'separate email' with the username confirmation.

I had an email confirming my internet banking username on the same day as I received the acceptance email.
  • Hmmm,it looks like my application has not gone through.Certainly had no "sort code has been set aside" notification.I can'rt remember what it was,but something came up that implied my application was successful.Might have to have another look.....
    Thank you everyone

On their site there seemed to be no number to try for anyone who was not already a customer.
The number's the same (for 'bank accounts' anyway) whether you're an existing customer or a new one. It's just that for new customers the 'opening hours' are shorter.

Scroll down to the bottom of their homepage and click "call us".

When I called them I was directed to a 0800 number with opening hours of Mon-Fri 9-5 and Sat 9 until either 12 or 1; can't remember which. Unfortunately I binned the number once I'd called it.
  • Thank you for all your help, everyone.
Right,I looked through my internet history.
These are the pages I got to/did:

    Before You Begin
    Personal Details
    Financial Details
    Acceptable ID/Security/Privacy
I then double-checked personal and Financial details were correct
Halifax Summary (of what I had entered)
    Checks in Progress
    Account Offer
    Overdraft PCCI
    Privacy Statement and Your Identity/Security/Pin
    Account Set-up
    About Online/Online Conditions
    Fulfillment in Progress

At this point it must have seemed like my application was finished, but I left the window open. When I came back to it later,a banner across the screen said "Halifax-Switch your account-session expired"
I wonder if I walked away and missed something that happened next,or if I just need to be patient.

Just now I have also tried to log into Halifax, using the Password and Username I created-am being told these are incorrect.Maybe it just hasn't been set up yet,and I just need to give it a few more days.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

The online details don't work until they use them to register you and send you an email confirming that you are registered.

I can't really comment on the pages that you went through as I was asked to bring ID to branch to complete mine.

The only thing you can do is call them (tomorrow, from 9-5) on the number from the "call us" link I mentioned above, and ask for a progress report.
  • Yes,I will do that Yorkshire Boy.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply,it is much appreciated.
