Who loves Bubble and Squeak?
We had Bubble and Squeak for supper tonight. One of our treat favourite Suppers. Left over Leeks and Cabbage from the day before from the garden and left over Potatoes. Plus a fried egg from our hens and a tin of Aldi Baked Beans. Beans cost 22p plus about 25p for the left over potatoes. So Supper for two for 47p. :j
Have been extra mindful about what I have been putting in our waste bin since joining in with this thread. It sure makes you think before throwing things away. I was always careful but am even more so now thanks to this thread. I even had a look inside the kitchen bin tonight to see how full it was getting after it was emptied 3 days ago. Am I getting obsessed with it all? :rotfl:. Seriously though I am taking extra extra care now.
Was going to make our own Christmas Crackers again this year but bought some instead because it was for the Marie Curie Charity and thought it is such a good cause.
Does anyone else make their own Christmas Crackers? If so do you buy the Bangs to go in them?. We have never bought the bangs because we always thought that they were a waste of money. Instead we just shout out Bang when we pull them. I know that sounds a bit daft but it is fun and makes us giggle and saves us some money.

I used to work (from home) for a company which made Christmas crackers and packed that lovely wrapping paper and tags. of which I have tons left even after 16 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and always refused to do the Christmas crackers - the money is absolutely crap! 1p a cracker? they having a laugh?
I buy them from pound shops or the cheapest I can find. the whole point in our family is to 'pull' the cracker, read naff jokes and wear the hat! the 'gift' is usually discarded - unless its the 'fortune telling fish' which everyone loves!
I got to be honest - I do feel a bit sorry for the person who 'made' the cracker, as I know even the 'poshest' cracker didn't earn NMW per hour of work. and that is in THIS country - never mind abroad!0 -

1p a cracker  that's appalling
I love crackers , I bought mine in the sales in Jan , I love the fortune telling fish too
I'm managing to use up all left overs , we had carrots and cabbage from a meal 2 weeks ago cooked then frozen , defrosted them and heated them through with a little butter in a frying pan and they were lovely . I've got some chicken to use today , so I'm going to do a pasta dish with it , quick and simple0 -
Just booked and paid for the ferries to the IoW next year and eye watering £322.00 for two cars so absolutely nowt will be going in the bin for the foreseeable future. In fact I think I am not going near a shop unless its something I desperately need or have run out of for awhile. My purse has firmly clanged shut

I have just made a shopping bag this week from an old umbrella. It was a R*dl*y and the fabric was good, but the frame was broken beyond repair, so unpicked it, sewed it end to base for each section, then cut it to size with the offcuts used for the handles. Used it yesterday and was perfect! The leather dog went on my handbag!0

I have a friend who does exactly the same, so when I find broken umbrellas abandoned in the street or in bins I pick them up and give them to her. She even dismantles the frames and either gives away pieces to other crafting people, or she puts the separate pieces in the recycling bin. I love that she is doing thst, am very proud of her commitment. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
My dog has a nice red waterproof coat, I made it from a broken umbrella.

Took some books and magazines to the parents today. I had to take them in a reusable bag as I no longer have any plastic variety. I also took my sisters christmas present, I took it in the gift bag that she gave me my present last year. This bag has been going back and forth between us for a few years now.
I hadn't thought of reusing an umbrella to make a shopping bag but I will now.0 -

A selection of things to do with broken umbrellas - Personally I love the pug coat. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
