Need some help/advice on Saturday payments!

Hi, I'm a complete newbie so please bear with me! I usually have my ESA available from Saturday into my Barclays account even though it doesn't actually get paid into my account until the following Monday. That has been the case for a while now however checked my account today and no money whatsoever! I contacted the bank, they were useless and didn't understand other than "no monies or transactions are paid during weekends"! Which I know isn't true because I've always been able to withdraw my money on Saturday. My real question is why this weekend it hadn't been paid in, and would this be a indication that I won't be getting paid at all? I understand that I may well have to wait until Monday but I'm worried because this isn't normal so won't be paid at all.
Btw I know my claim is fine, no letters and such. I've passed my medical a few months ago and placed in the support group so should definitely get paid! Any help would really be appreciated.

Ah ok so it doesn't necessarily mean I won't get paid then! I've always been paid on the Saturday and this is the first time I haven't so got really worried that I won't be paid at all.. Thanks for letting me know this is normal. 😊0

It's certainly not an indication that you will not be paid. As you have said, you are due payment on Monday and that actually means some time before Monday midnight! There is no requirement for the payment to be available any earlier.
Just consider payments received on a Saturday/Sunday as early payment.0 -

No because of the way Barclays processes payments over the weekend ( Monday's payments usually go in on the weekend, Saturday for me).,
Even though my statement says I get paid on a Monday the funds are usually available on the Saturday. My last payment was on the 31st of October but my bank statement shows Monday 2nd November and it's always been that way which is why I'm worrying that I'm not going to get paid. I'm not sure if anyone has had this issue that's why I'm asking.0 -

Some banks are processing Monday's payments (incoming as well as outgoing) in the early hours of Saturday morning. So the transactions, although dated for Monday, are already showing-up on Saturday. The majority of banks process Monday's transactions Sunday night, Monday morning.
I believe, the early processing banks are stopping that practice and fall in line with the other banks. If Barclays was one of the early processors (I don't know, I don't bank with them) it is possible that the change from the old to the new schedule has taken place just this weekend.0 -
Thanks for that info Bengal-stripe, I hope your right and that is the case but either way there really is not much I can do in this situation other than wait until tomorrow.
I do have to admit that the first post was right I shouldn't ever rely on money going on on a Saturday! My gripe about this whole thing has been not knowing, I managed to log onto my online banking and there's no info on any uncleared payments coming in, you can only ever see what is going out and to tell the truth they are no better on the phone. I was cut off a few times, wasn't understood properly and they simply didn't have the information regarding payments that are uncleared and due to go in. I was essentially told "when they go in they go in"!
Anyway thanks to everyone that has contributed and has tried to help. I will update the thread tomorrow as to wether or not I have been paid (I still don't know if I will for sure), then close the thread.0
