Seller wants more money for fixture that was in property description

Then decline it and say that your originally accepted offer price stands, minus the extra they are now asking for.No free lunch, and no free laptop

It isn't our dream house - in fact it was our second choice after we lost the house we really wanted due to its seller pulling out. Our feeling is that we don't particularly want to kowtow to demands for more money for the same reason you indicate - it just gives power to the seller to squeeze us for more money later.
They are asking for just over half of what it cost to buy and install. The cost isn't huge - but for what they're asking, our feeling is that we would rather they just take it and we can buy a new one to our own taste rather than paying them more money for their old one. But then, we think the cost of removing it and reinstalling it is going to be what they're asking us for anyway!
i, along with others must now be intrigued.
what is this 'feature and what are they proposing to charge you for it?0 -
I will take a guess at a log burner0

When vendor of my last house pulled that stunt (and I was basically paying asking price - as houses were shooting up there at that time) I called his bluff and told him I wasn't paying any extra and then let the chips fall where they may.
The result was they did take the item they were after extra money for (a secondhand garden shed they wanted to charge me more for than a new one would have cost me). Well - I wasn't that bothered about that anyway.
They left some tatty carpeting they were threatening to take.
They stole an item it had been firmly agreed they would leave (ie a freestanding cupboard they hadn't told me "Pay for or else"). They stole a couple of fitted shelves (ditto they hadn't demanded payment for).
So - yep...they basically took what they were threatening to take and stole a couple of other bits just to be !!!!!y.
But - I still believe I was correct not to give way to what amounted to blackmail.
So - you are at risk they will take this item anyway - but I would still refuse to pay extra for the house in order for them to leave it and keep your fingers crossed it will stay anyway. If you give way to them on this, then they might start regarding you as a pushover and come back demanding some more money on another excuse.0 -

I was thinking along the lines of a shed or similar?
Perhaps you should tell them that you're happy to keep the fixture in it's current state of repair. But you are not willing to pay any money for it and if they insist that they are taking it, you will be demanding that it be removed by the day of completion or else you will be billing them for storage and removal of said fixture. That should hopefully prevent them damaging or defacing the fixture, just to get their own back!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Hot tub?
My friends got a reduction on a house they are buying as the vendor didn't want to take the hot tub with them and my friends don't want it. It will cost money to remove and nobody knows whether the floor below will need tiling/electrics/plumbing removed (It's in an internal room)Make £2025 in 2025
