  • OP,
Have you considered Qatar Airways Business class? They're currently doing a 2-4-1 on Business fares at the moment.

They fly to MEL from LHR, MAN or EDI via Doha. Brilliant airline (current Skytrax airline of the year) and their J class is far, far better than the likes of Club World - being a regular J class traveller on QR, i would say its comparable to First class on many airlines. Well worth checking out. Oh and their J class lounge at Doha is amazing.

thank you, but I suspect a Doha connection would fall into the same category as Dubai, for them.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Neither of the destinations offered begins in time for the OP's in Laws, nor is Melbourne offered. That comes in at around £3300 each. At least £2400 over their already extended budget.

Two for One pricing is based on some 'pie in the sky' figures and likely doesn't apply to their best flight times.

For those with more time on their hands, one can fly Business Class with Cathay Pacific/Qatar Airways to Australia from Oslo for under £1600 currently, for dates from November to February.

    What's so good about Melbourne?

Why not choose another destination, one that is served by your preferred airline? From there you could always catch a bus on to Melbourne...

Was that meant to be a joke? I honestly can't tell but if not, it's one of the most ridiculous suggestions I've ever read on here!

If they want to sit together in Thai Airways Business Class on the A380, they should choose columns/seats E & F

    Details here

Though bear in mind, that once they fly Business, they won't want to fly PE or Economy ever again.
They'll be on the upper deck of the A380, so it will be very quiet.

I've never found upstairs in the A380 to be quiet due to the volume of people

Quiet refers to the lack of engine noise, not as to whether people all decide to speak at the same time. The volume of people is dependent on the airline and cabin...and of course... circumstance.

I never noticed any difference between the upper and lower deck in terms of noise.
