Download the 64 bit version. They claim it runs on both 32 and 64 bit machines. Haven't tried myself, as I have an older version. From their website:Advantages of IrfanView 32-bit over 64-bit version:

Just tried on the first few links at http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm and the sha256 sums match those quoted, so they look safe enough based on that, assuming that the official site binary was OK to start with.

I want to download Irfanview 32 bit from a safe site. I cannot find the 32 bit on the main site. Thanks,

Since year 2003, IrfanView has over 1 Million downloads every month, why are you having problems!

I don't know, google chrome blocked the download from above link. It was "unconfirmed" on the download icon.

I have done a destructive factory reset and one or two things are not working properly, eg I have downloaded the ccleaner installer and double clicking and right click and open will not run it.
Thanks for your replies, I have downloaded irfanview many times and am lost without it. IE will not work, it keeps asking me to install vista service pack 1 which I have done several times but it dose not work.
I am using chrome and firefox. Laptop is much quicker.

Out of curiosity I downloaded the 64-bit (4.40) version and it won't install on a Windows 10 32-bit platform, despite what IrfanView's wesite suggests - I have version 4.38 on that and it's fine.
I suppose you would have to download the 32-bit version from elsewhere, such as softonic...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. That is strange. I download the file from my link above using Chrome and I got a warning that "This file is malicious and Chrome has blocked it"
I opened the Chrome downloads folder and clicked on "Recover malicious file"
I then scanned the iview440_setup.exe file downloaded from the Irfanview site separately for viruses and malware and it was clean.
You only need to download the 64 bit file if you specifically need the 64 bit file. The standard irfanview download is 32 bit.0 -

That was the whole point though - the IrfanView site takes you through to CNET to download, where only the 64-bit version is available.
On the Irfanview home page you have the choice to download the standard 32 bit or the new 64 bit.
The file that I linked to (NOT cnet) is the standard 32 bit download and has the SHA-256 checksum shown on the Irfanview standard download page and not the checksum shown on the 64 bit download page.Starting with IrfanView 4.40 there is also a 64-bit version available:
* It can load VERY large files/images (image RAM size over 1.3 GB, for special users)
* Faster for very large images (25+ Megapixels, loading or image operations)
* Runs only on a 64-bit Windows (Vista, Win7, Win8, Win10)0
