night all #CHEEKY :cool:0 -
That is very impressive Savvy. Thankyou so much it's really helpful xx
Yes it is:D. That wasn't too bad in the store earlier. I think there are a few duplicated items as different stores seem to have slightly different versions. Do you think that Aldi might actually have Citrus and/or Cotton version of Power Force Antibacterial Cleaner but that the msm price collectors haven't picked it up?:rotfl:
I've done what any good, comprehensive price collector should do and doubtless the list is another one produced with the help of Asperger's syndrome! I'm not doing them from memory any more as, tbh, it was like sitting an exam twice a week and it was just more heavy on me! So, thank the old style pen and paper.
I actually got noticed by a customer at M last time:eek:. They said they'd seen me a number of times writing lots of things down. I think on reflection I notice when staff are there because of their uniforms but obviously I don't notice any other customer from Adam and continue regardless of whoever of them are there!
Do you know I had been thinking about doing a competition - a bit like those radio competitions - and giving away a random £20 note as a Christmas present to the first person to come up to me in M and repeat a specific phrase. I haven't progressed that idea though - maybe the customer who spoke to me ought to have been awarded it - but I didn't have a spare note on me anyway:o. I never spend much:rotfl::rotfl:. To be fair though, even if something looks good, I tend to take it away, crunch the numbers later on with it and, if it really is good, then maybe buy it on the next occasion. This is because, just because it looks good, it may be that something else is better elsewhere - I think, whenever I've gone for something without fully checking on msm in advance, it's always turned out that something else was better. The cereals in Lidl are one I didn't check before I myself bought - only to find Aldi worked out oh so slightly better:(. (It's some cereal that obviously does not appear on the Lidl list.)
Perhaps I just feel like picking out a random person one time and just giving them some money! Just a random act of kindness:rotfl::rotfl:. Don't know why.
I was reading yesterday and noticed this:

And this too:

It seems I've already long had my own systems of doing these collections and I've inadvertently being following much of what they set out.
"12.16 Accurate item descriptions are vitally impor-
tant in ensuring item continuity. Collectors’ descriptions
should be comprehensive enough to ensure that collec-
tors are able to price the same item in each collection
period. It is therefore important that contributors record
the attributes which uniquely define the item they are
pricing. For example, for clothes it will be important that
colour, size and fabric composition are specified to
ensure that the same item is priced each month."
Obviously I don't do clothes as that's the non-grocery section but the general idea is the same: things like country of origin, product description, including weight; but then I would always already do this sort of thing naturally as I am accurate and detailed. Occasionally though, some attribute that I hadn't noted turns out to be important in a competitor's product and I then have to find out whether the M item really is, IMO, comparable:rotfl:. Sometimes, I've fudged it by delaying putting the item onto the list until a further, proper check for that attribute can be done on the next collection two days later. It happens, very rarely. Mostly though, I get it better than them - or at least no worse. And continuity and consistency are also something that are important to me.
Or I have the one like the popcorn just now, where the two descriptions in different stores turn out to relate to the same individual specific item:rotfl:! I've now deleted one of the descriptions of it from the M list: the one that MSE won't let me print properly because it's filter is silly and picks up some innocent word as, supposedly, "bad" and the Grim Green Popcorn are one and the same item. I've now chosen to describe it as the Grim Green Popcorn. Or, more accurately, obviously I've got brand name and weight as well!
I seem to follow much of what the price collector's guides say except for the part about getting permission:rotfl:. However, they don't always have permission, as the quote from Brand View here indicated: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-16002303.
Next week might be the last time that I do the Lidl one: I think I'm probably just doing this as a few 'specials' in the run up to the Christmas period and I've quite likely blown my cover with their store down the road from me anyway. It was just too difficult - although, having said that, the one just now wasn't too bad at all:rotfl:.0 -
I'm off to bed now but noticing it's new thread time quite soon. (Bet someone will open one whilst I'm away now and leave me with page 107:rotfl:.) Can I be greedy and have 4 posts in a row near the start (hopefully) of the next thread as needed for the M and then the Lidl list? TIA!
(Only because it's me:rotfl:.)
(Just please wait for me - and don't lock up this thread too soon as it's easier for me to transfer lists if it's still open.)
Goodbye now!:)0 -

If it bothers you much then why don't you just start a new thread? no one will mind and your head won't worry about it and you can place your lists where you want them.
I'm up because DS2 has taken to getting up for a wee at silly o'clock and after he's gone through the house we need a body count, an animal count and a check on the doors, windows and taps. we've regressed a littleI thought we were over this but it might be his reaction to recent events.

Evening/Afternoon :hello:
I've had £12 scan fine on SS but SA did need to approve as over £10
Also used some around £9.50 which worked fine without SA approval.
I think the key is patience and holding the apg/receipt near a clean bit of glass to give the laser the best chance at reading it (oh and folding the apg so it can't see the ean barcode!) - they really should clean the glass more often though, SS tills are filthy in my store.
can an sa approve £10+ at ss tills. or does it have to be a supervisor. tia0
