:eek:That was lucky! Just managed to save another shop from exactly 28 days ago - and it's given a voucher for £3 with M being cheaper! I had one a few weeks back when the receipt turned up only on its 28th day - why do they do that? - although I would be printing the "" symbol if it was 29th day but then I'd never know if it would have given the voucher or not.

The APG now, on the new website, no longer appears to be an exact strict 28 day going from the actual time (e.g. 10.30am) of the shop and ending at precisely that time on the 28th day. Instead it now appears to end at the end of the 28th day. This shop was done at 12.20pm on 8th November - just as well it comes back successfully as it was picked up from the store at about half one this afternoon (it's taken me a bit of time to get back here). Under the old system, I had one once that was an hour beyond the shopping time, on the 28th day, and it came back with the "older than 28 days" message. Yes - older than 28 days and 0 hours:mad::rotfl:. I assume this receipt would have given the "your receipt is too old" message had I checked after midnight tonight (or maybe 1am with the clock being out - but I would not be waiting in order to go and check it later anyway).

Am I right? - I do not have to claim the voucher today do I, but (having now checked and locked in the shop) I now have at least two months - and I reckon probably six months - in order to claim the voucher? (I think possibly six months as receipts may drop off a.com after that time.) Of course I wouldn't wait that long - but can I wait until tomorrow before claiming it?

This is unusual - voucher back vs Sains. (although A the cheapest shop:mad:) although only place that A is more than 10% cheaper than is M (and even there it's come back 29p cheaper than the 10%):

Beansprouts not comparing against M though:(:
    1x ASDA Beansprouts (360G) £0.58 N/A

Surprisingly, having gone up from 50p in M to 54p earlier in the year, they have so far kept at that 54p and not risen to 60p. Some of the other packs of veg. (in fact I think most of them, that were on the same pricing) have. I found a whoopsied Beansprouts pack in one of my Ms at 29p though (this was just the time I happened to be in the store - I didn't buy it).

    Vs M:
    1x Mr Kipling 9 Angel Slices (9PK) £1.50 £2.37:eek:
Who would pay £2.37 for 9 cake slices?

I bet that was a targetted muggle's shop though:D - you knew some of those items from before and thought they might give something! We never quite do muggle's shops:rotfl:.

I think the 2k is something to do with contracted out NI rates.

Net result on income in the current year is

    A: 50k-32k+8k+2k=28k
    B: -5k
    Tax credits:13k

Is that right? Not sure how tax credits exactly work and whether they give you real money tax free.

Assuming it is then A is going to pay some tax on that. Even if it is only 20% of 18k, that is nearly 4k. So household income would be 32k.

The big flaw is that the government is going to start assuming that anyone who is self employed earns at least the NMW. So the -5k is going to become an assumed ~10k. That will reduce the tax credits.

Good link but that rule applies to new claimants, not existing.

They have missed a trick, B could also pay 2880 into their pension and have it topped up by the govt to 3600 which could also be offset against their tax credits income. Plus if A actually earned 60k they would also benefit from not losing 2.4k of child benefit that they would otherwise lose.

They need to be careful about the 5k final income because if it is a reduction from previous years then 2.5k will be added for tax credits calc purposes so the actual assessment will need to be done on 7.5k which may be into the withdrawal band.

Also A as well as having the 40k annual allowance may well have rollover allowance from the previous 3 years when the allowance was 50k, 50k then 40k.

With the full ctc amount they should also be able to get school music lessons at 50% discount.

They can also use the married couples tax allowance which as a higher rate tax payer they wouldn't have been able to worth 200 quid.

It would be nice if they could also get free school meals but to do so they would have to give up wtc which is more even with 3 kids. Depending on assets they might also be able to look at council tax benefit and if they rent, housing benefit.

Finally had they been able to do salary sacrifice rather than personal pension contributions they would save on NI and potential get a share of the employers NI.

    I do all the above.

    Brilliant, thanks for confirmation.
