Morning all
It is possible that today is my last day at work. Maybe
Means I get to go glitching or good dealing
Means I get to see my chickens during the day instead of counting their feathery bums in bed
Means I get to lose all the stress that that place has piled on me.
I just need to have the balls to do itI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. How do you work out how much value you got out of an avios redemption?
By comparing the number of avios redeemed to actual or perceived cost of revenue flights you might otherwise have taken. You also need to factor in the the taxes and fees on the redemption. Ultimately thd value you reach will be dependent on many factors, e,g. when you book, whether you base value on revenue price of airline redeemed or cheapest acceptable alternative etc. Thus, values are very inividual and not directly comparable. It is worth trying to figure one out for yourself though based on your redemption history as it guides you in setting a realistic price you should be prepared to pay per avios either directly or indirectly.
That is very subjective and difficult to calculate.
It is the only way that I can travel long haul in Club or First, so Avios are very valuable to me. Others with a high income (I had one when I was working) may value them less since they can pay for the current low price cash fares.
Another complication is that when you collect you may not know what the redemption terms will be when you redeem.

Thanks - no wonder I struggle with it lol.

I've never sat down and worked out what they are "worth" until tonight.
It doesn't really matter if (a) you are not buying them (either directly from avios or by buying things just to get the points that come with the item) and (b) you are spending them on stuff you wouldn't otherwise do.
Like you I would be reluctant to pay £££s for long haul business flights, but being I got the avios as an aside to general life, they didn't really cost me real money.
I suppose the value in putting a price on them is if you could put them to better use or if you could buy flights as cheap as using the avios.
Long haul business (or first) with a 2-4-1 voucher is generally regarded to be the best use of them, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
If you want to see their worth divide the price you would pay for similar flights by the number of avios you are using. That gives you a broad idea of their value - even if you wouldn't actually ever spend that money on those flights.
This I can understand. Thanks silvercar. I've always just regarded them as a bit of a bonus. Although we did get the Amex specifically for the voucher, it was done in the knowledge that we had some big expenditure coming up so we would easily meet the target0 -
What about her beef?
Her reputation precedes her.
She is a lovely lady. :A
Yes, her beef, how could I forget her beef :jqueen_of_cheap wrote: »Morning all

You've got balls qoc, get in there and do it. Are you an Elute or a mouse? Loose the stress and enjoy your chickens and the run up to Christmas.
Go do it girl, I know you can xThere's no place like home
Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Dave, there are more advantages, just search Amex on HUKD.
Statement credits - Amex gives you money back when you register for a promotion and spend the required amount in a given outlet.
Current good ones are £5 back wys £10 @ Post Office - they have a giftcard that you can credit to Amazon, for example.
Which explains why I have got 5 Amex cards in my wallet. Other people are more enthusiastic than that, but 5 is a good number for me.
So the Post Office deal nets me £25, or put it this way: 50% discount on Amex on £50 spend.
The SD one discussed last night is also £5 back wys £10, good if you need a half price electric toothbrush (as I do).
I still haven't worked out Avios and I have a reasonable amount plus T CC that could be used - I really need to work out how to spend them effectively as I am bound to be missing a trick.
I do have a few Amex - as does Mrs Anon and each have a supplemental card to double up on the promos.
Shop Small starts tomorrow and in the past OneStop convenience stores have been included - these are actually owned by T and in many cases have similar promos to the T Express. Each unit is seen as a different shop ? Just need to check they haven't changed this.
I am now over 6 months since I closed Gold - I think I can now re-apply as a new customer for the joining bonus again?

Good morning Elite and qoc :hello:
Grabbing a coffee then back to bed for an hour more and catch up on emails  where to start, my inboxes are crammed :rotfl::rotfl:
FC I had to blow picture up to see what the dickens you were are sitting on  a reindeer you say? Well ok I take your word for that, it's a very modern looking reindeer then :rotfl::rotfl:
Now, do I go to Mr M later for Pepsi, and if they don't have any in stock shall I try Mr A? Too early for me to make such decisions
See you later xThere's no place like home

You can re-apply in confidence. What many people do is switch between spouses every 6 months. It is household income that counts. Ie perfectly OK to have spouse as supplementary for the first 6 months, close a/c, then spouse becomes main cardholder for the next 6 months with you as supp. You can even refer each other just before you close the first one, to earn the extra points.0
