    Evening all:)

just trying to book a C&C - was looking at the legs of lamb due to be half price in T from tomorrow. On MSM the lamb doesnt seem to compare between A and T (its actualy the half leg I was after) - I know that APG doesnt use MSM anymore but does this suggest that this won't compare?

    Thanks xxxx

Depends how much value you get out of them & your personal situation. I like to have a few in the bank. I ALWAYS get more than 1p of value out of my Avios nowadays, otherwise I'd pay cash for the flights. So buying @ 0.95p represents a certain future profit and leaves me free to pursue opportunities if they arise.

In my mind I just average out the cost, including the inconvenience of (say) buying stuff @ T for resale. Probably close to 0.5p in cost, making my return European BA flights, headline £180 or so, about £90 in real money plus I get the suitcase & snack/ booze.

Our short haul BA flights are 20k avios return each plus about £130 taxes. If we didn't have avios we would go Easyjet. That is about £330 on average. So that is valuing the avios at 1p. Plus the no cost benefits of flying BA: exit row seats, luggage, in flight meals and free lounge access.
Long haul we fly business for the price we would be prepared to pay for economy, though we wouldn't want to fly long haul economy. So the value is difficult to calculate. For comparison, next years holiday is 150k avios with a 241 voucher + £1k taxes. cost would be ~£5k. So valuing avios at 2.7p.

Overall we possibly do a max of one short haul with the kids and one without, so 6 trips is 120k avios and LH is 150k, average avios value is just under 2p.

I've never done that calculation before, proved very interesting.

Now tweaking it to do shorthaul out easyjet and back BA reduces the taxes from £130 to £25, so saves real money. Also I once booked one of the kids home on an avios flight 4 hours before take off when their own arrangements looked unsafe, that I wouldn't have been able to do without the Avios.

Savvy, problem is that 36.67p in A is a rubbish price for a can of Pepsi

It is - that's why it's a big risk this "guarantee"(). We aren't looking to get them at A's price though but crossing all our fingers for 10% off M's price. This would clearly be one that would be helpful if A would lower the price a bit to make it less risky (maybe the fact they seem to have 'ignored' the M offer may be an indication it isn't in any of the data they get? The APG price collections probably help A's own pricing team and their setting of prices. However - if it was all like that, they wouldn't have ignored the 73p Hula Hoops and now changed them from £1 to £1.75 and 2 for £3!).

I ignore the £11 A price, a bit, for the M list. You can see I added "" after one of those M prices though - more in reference to the possibility of paying £11 and having an N/A. Is any of them more risky than another? Do people have the Max version for example in most of their Ms as well as the other two?

They do:rotfl:. One I had earlier (still contributed to the APG, an alright 50p on top of the rest) was some 6 pack Muller Cheesecake yogurts vs M - 2 for £5 at both. Probably up from £1.94 or £1.88 previously at both or one of them:rotfl:.

Has anyone got some Pepsi 30 pack can being bought in A though? That's what we all want them to buy right now - and none of them are doing so!:(:rotfl:

EDIT: And the Airwick Double Fresh single plug-in - would be great if they bought one of those and if it turned out to be working: £4.00 A vs £1.00 M.:D Ah well, I got the Cheesy Pizza earlier - though we already knew that had worked months before (and it was the APG itself that originally tipped me off about that one:o:o:rotfl:).
