Just had Morries cheaper again:rotfl::rotfl: - and it's "unusual" again: there's only so many times it can be said before it loses its ring somewhat:D (on a normal shop and not one that was targetted).
It helped that they bought this:
1x ASDA Chosen by You Stuffed Crust Cheese Feast Pizza (433G) £2.00:T £1.03
That they missed the mbuy on the Bistos:
1x Bisto Spaghetti Bolognese (375G) £1.18 £1.00
1x Bisto Macaroni Cheese (375G) £1.18 N/A
That's the 3 for £3 mbuy that went up from individual £1 so makes no saving (and the Bisto meals I think may have been slightly cheaper than £1 at some point in A before - 93p? - never 10% cheaper than regular £1 pricing elsewhere:laugh:).
This receipt is from a few days' ago, fortunately, as they bought these (I think they've gone up in price in M now and we will be on the new M pricing on the APG for today's shops):
2x Birds Eye 2 Original Chicken Chargrills (170G) £2.00 £2.00
Not much liking that 2 for £2 offer - which doesn't save at all compared to previous straight £1s, or even a little cheaper - maybe it was those that were on 93p towards the end of last year? - that have been available in A before. The shoppers invariably get the wrong ones and they turn out at £1.68/£1.69 elsewhere! It's useless, really, buying them on 2 for £2 as it doesn't give all but a straight price-match and a little APG as not 10% - just the 'few pence':(. Buying them at £1.69 or something like that (and then only having to buy one) and have a comp. to £1 would be better. The four packs of some of the BE grills have been known to be £1.50 elsewhere (they haven't stocked them in A for several years), so, really, a straight £1.00 for two is an overpayment (IMO)!
They missed the A mbuy:rotfl:
1x ASDA Chosen by You Wafer Thin Honey Roast Turkey (200G) £1.18 N/A
Fortunately, this particular Pepsi compared right this time (this was the end of last week):
1x Pepsi Max Cans (8X330) £2.00 £2.00
In all, 12 out of the 18 comparable items compared at same price to M or else within 2 or 3 pence. The Chicken Fillets (500g) lost out, the WW meals were on a better offer in A but they only lost about three pence. The Cauliflower & Broccoli Florets had gone up in price in M and, unless the APG got a slightly lower price than in fact was the case, have had another price increase since - but A were not 10% cheaper on the APG (I think they might now be - due to M's possibly second increase). A few items cheaper in M, and with most prices being the same and the difference on others not that great, it turns out M cheaper and gives a nice APG!
However, despite all these critiques of them being 10% cheaper, it is a better scheme than the others that only match prices (except when they make a large error in our favour:rotfl:). It also means you can get vouchers when they are cheaper than the other place (quite often by a few pence, as things tend to even out - most prices are similar and the losses are on the r'back items that the best competitor doesn't have on special offer) whereas of course if other places came out cheaper, they'd give you a valueless "saved" coupon!:( Which means (unless you have bought every brand as whoopsies), you've done something wrong - especially in Sains., where the comp. can only be against A, and therefore, in theory at least, if you ever (barring entire purchase of whoopsies or whoopsies and 'cheap' own brands) get a "saved" coupon there, you should have bought the comparable brands in A and claimed to be 10% cheaper than S!
In short, everyone who ever gets a "saved" coupon from S, it means they should have bought the items in A and claimed 10% lower (all things being equal and A being available within reasonable distance of them that didn't cost more than the 10% off) - except only if they bought a basket that happened to consist of more than 10 unique items and all the brands they bought were whoopsied. Even there, if the own labels were bought and made the basket to at least ten, they'd probably have be better buying those separately, once they had enough items, even vs Sains. price on those as would quite likely be a comparable equivalent of most items in A (possibly, possibly not:think:), would then in theory be 10% lower than what they'd paid. Or maybe 10% cheaper than a cheaper priced competitor to S. That even includes A - as, if it was more than 10% cheaper (and no comparable item vs elsewhere that could get more off/back), you could just buy that own label item straight at A on its own and make the saving. I'm not thinking of Sains-specific MOCs or points offers btw, but about "you have saved" shops. You wouldn't be pricematching A as cheaper than S and getting BM coupon back off your shop (where you'd used MOCs/got points offers) if you got a "you have saved" from your shop! In other words... unless you bought brands that were totally branded whoopsies, "you have saved"="you have lost 10% off the prices you paid".0 -
