If the product i am looking for is unavailable they should be honest and leave that space empty. Hate this feeling they are trying to push me to a specific expensive brand.

Supermarkets rearrange stuff all the time. If someone buys Catsan instead of Sainsbury's Basics because they just grab from the same shelf without looking at the product at all then I don't have much sympathy...

The supermarket basic litters are non-clumping, aren't they? Clumping litters need changing MUCH less often (like every couple of months instead of every week) so may work out cheaper anyway.

My cat is very selective when it comes to litter. If he doesn't like, he has no problems in pooping on the floor. This used to be a problem until I found that he likes the "ultra clumping" (very "powdery") options, like the sainsburys "ultra clumping", which is not basic at all.
On the other hand, the catsan is not clumping, so I know he wouldn't like.
  • Try places like B and M and Home Bargains they do some good cat litter :)

My local Sainsburys is now displaying a sign about the supply problems.
  • Hello,

Same story in both our local Sainsburys too.

I wondered if anyone knew a very close equivalent to the 'Sainsburys Clumping' litter (NOT the smaller grained, ultra clumping one) as our cat gets very funny about litter and ends up doing his business where he shouldn't, in preference to his tray, when we've switched litters once before.

    Many thanks for suggestions!
  • Lidl cat litter is fantastic. £1.79 for 10L.

I do not look at price per bag but how much does the litter cost me per cat per month.

I cat the litter from Zooplus and pay 19.99 for 2 bags BUT those 2 bags last me a month with 6 cats so 19.99 divided by 6 = £3.31 per cat per month which is a better way to calculate what REALLY is cheap.

Some cheap per bag litters work much more expensive as you need to use more.
