Sainsbury's Basic Cat Litter - No More?

Hi all
Just went to my big Sainsbury's and the section where they had the basic cat litter has now been replaced with a different, much more expensive, type of cat litter. No other space for it.
Had a quick look online and although no mention of them stopping it, online it says product unavailable.
Anyone know if they've stopped producing this permanently and if so, why??
Thanks

Okay so online are you signed in to Sainsburys & is your local store the one which fulfils online orders? If yes then the oos is correct for your fulfilment shop.
It could have been discontinued, temporarily gone for a re-brand/package change or no longer stocked by your store.
A quick Google shows two different Sainsburys Basics cat litter ( 8l & 10l )
I suspect temp oos since the package design and size are different.
Best to contact Sainsburys and ask really.0800 number on the webpages.0 -
Just came across this thread while searching Google for an answer.
Similar shortage in my local branch. Last week there was just an empty shelf, but this week they've filled the void with some of the expensive brands.
There was a note on the front of the shelf which stated a problem with the supply of all Sainsbury's cat litters, not just the basics.
I haven't made any further enquiries yet about if/when it will return, but I'm down to my last 2 bags, so if they don't hurry up the cats are going to be disappointed.
As for the 8l / 10l, they changed the pack size a few months ago. I'm assuming this was a national change.0 -
Asked the question, got a reply...I can understand your frustration with our cat litter range not being available at the moment. I'm sorry this has been an ongoing issue that hasn't been resolved as yet.
Due to this supply issue with our cat litter, all our stores are affected. We are continuing to work to get our cat litter back on our shelves as soon as possible. No date for its return is available at the moment.
Thank you for your time, and we hope to see you in our store soon.
Kind regards

Glad someone asked this as it's my usual brand too! Ended up going to Tesco and stocking up on their value brand whilst I still could!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

Yes many thanks for finding out Voucherman - haven't been back to the Sainsburys otherwise I would've asked a member of staff.
I don't have a Tesco near me that sells the cheap litter so had to get it from Waitrose. It's exactly the same as Tesco/Sainsburys but double the price (£3).0 -
Yes, I went to Sainsbury's to buy this at the weekend and they didn't have any. I spoke to the guy filling the shelves with cat food and he said the same story about problems with the supplier and they are hoping to get it restocked soon but don't know when.
What worried me is that there was no trace of it ever existing - no empty shelf with the edge label still on - no trace at all. If fact, the only brand of cat litter they had was Catsan, no other.0 -
I have this problem too, please update if anyone knows when they will be back in stock0

My local saynsburys shelves are full of one litter: expensive catsan. I assumed they must be paying some good commission.
If the product i am looking for is unavailable they should be honest and leave that space empty. Hate this feeling they are trying to push me to a specific expensive brand.0 -
Saynsburys litter is not even available at their website. Not good...0

They are a business. An empty shelf doesn't make any money for them, would you rather they had no cat litter at all than offer another brand?Make £2025 in 2025
