Hi, I have been offered a job by teletech. I am supposed to ring this number 0207 979 2345 on Friday at 6.00pm. My training then starts on Monday (17th).
However I am still a bit skeptical about the whole thing. It seems like a great job and would suite me very well but I have a few concerns.
Does anyone have any idea of the cost of ringing this number? Is it expensive? As it is paid training can the cost of the calls be recuperated?
Has anyone actually started work fro this company yet? Has anyone been paid from the company yet?
From reading the thread it seems most ppl are enjoying training, does anyone have any advice?

Well done Yasmin! I will let you know how it all goes tomorrow. Hopefully they will ring me on time hehehe!0

A lot of us have not long started training so we don't get paid for a couple of weeks, cost wise most calls are done via a 0800 number so if you are calling an 0207 it's a little strange, what is the call you have to make? Even if the number is correct you will only be charged the standard national rate by the look of the number.
A lot of the training is CBT online training but there is some interaction on the phone.0 -
its getting really annoying all these "one post people" posting how "skeptical " they are:mad:
read the whole thread. its 31 pages long and you will see plenty of us have started/ are starting on 17th oct
if you cant be bothered to do that then google "teletech"
but heres to all the starters and trainees and again a big thank you to oliver

Hey guys. Newbie here.
I've read the thread (yes all of it, I should have been in bed ages ago!!) and have a few questions.
I'm on cabled broadband (Virgin) not through my phone line, I have only seen ASDL mentioned. Will that make a difference?
This is what I've gethered so far, am I right?
You need to be hardwire connected via a router, you need an ethernet port on your pc and at least 512mb on it. I can't use a DECT phone so will have to get a wired one (jeez I haven't had one of those for years). I get all the ID bit etc, just trying to make sure I have everything I need and weighing up the costs. Not sure about starting straight away but if I get organised I think it could be the ideal job for me.
I work two days a week somewhere else, Thursday and Friday. They do shifts on other days right? Or are the shift patterns on set days?
I'm a bit confused with the conference call thing. How often are they and how much notice do you get?
I think that's everything I can think of..oh apart from where are the smilies in here?
Sorry lots of questions I have read the thread,honest.0 -
Found the smilies. Durrr! :T
Now I can go to bed. Will check back in tomorrow after work.

Your connection type doesn't matter, I'm Virgin Cable here, your speed and stability will matter. You need a wired phone as some of the training calls last up to 4 hours and when you start taking calls for real you need to plug the phone into the headset and it needs to work for 4 hours non stop.
Most of the training is done via online tutorials you complete plus a conference call where the trainer talks you through the areas you are about to go look at, the calls are pretty much daily and are at the same time each day normally. If you are told you are doing 6-10 then that is when the call will occur.
Shift patterns don't seem to exist, you get the slots that are offered to you and that seems to be it. If you aren't available 2 days a week regularly then tell them and they can see if they can spread your hours onto other days, as long as you cover 20 hours over 5 days it should be ok.
Most important thing is your PC setup, it needs to be set to boot from CD for when you use the workbooth CD, it needs to work with the workbooth CD (built around linux), you need to be connecting via ethernet not wireless as workbooth has issues with some wireless connections and it needs to be able to handle the software etc so the memory etc is important.
Apart from that knowing how to mute the phone is important, having a quiet work area to use is key and not asking on a daily basis when the headset will arrive is extremely important0 -
After a lot of persistence and help from you guys (especially Oliver) - I have finally got it working and passed the technical assessment.
Well - I 've done my bit not the rest is up my wife - wish her luck!!

There is a chance you might need to put a cable router (£20-£30) between
your cable modem and your pc, because the NTL modem my friend had assigned a public IP address to he's pc and that might cause you to fail the initial pc test, maybe somebody with cable on here can tell you for sure?
Edit: Paulk above says his works fine

yep you got it, just get a speaker phone (Opticom one in Argos £12)
because for the first week training you will be on a conference call for
upto 4 hours, and the headsets don't come till week two

You do five days on two day off all evening work ie 5-7 rest 9-11 or 7-11
you might have to wait for the exact shift you want
I'm a bit confused with the conference call thing. How often are they and how much notice do you get?
You train for 3 weeks Monday to Friday 6-10pm, the training
involves calling a free-phone number to join a conference call with
your trainer and your team mates, you also use the web to join
in a virtual training session
When it comes to starting you working shift, the teletech system calls your
phone and you keep connected for the whole shift, you then make and take calls via a soft-phone on your pc
I think that's everything I can think of..oh apart from where are the smilies in here?
