  • Hi guys - I've tried to scan through this briefly and so far I don't think anyone has successfully completed the 'sign up' process.

Has anyone gotten any further? Anyone got the job yet?

I was also wondering about tax - I take it they sort that out?

Finally - WHY is it so hard to sit at home and earn a decent living??

There MUST be legit companies out there - i.e NOT phone sex, text sex, companies that need £300 to register you blah blah blah blah BLAH.

Please keep me updated guys! :)

Several of us have got the job actually, and will have no problems provided the truth has been given at the start, genuine references and ID can be provided. My welcome letter told me I have got the job, and several of us start training on the 10th September. Yes they pay your Taxes, you are on PAYE and they give you the reference in your welcome pack. SKY Broadband IS a legitimate company.

It isn't so hard to stay at home and make a decent living at all. And can you please explain why Phone Sex isn't a legitimate job? . I am Self-Employed, pay my stamp, work in a professional manner and for a very professional company. I buy my weekly shopping and pay my bills, pay for work on my house... feed my children. Would it be better if I were on the Dole. Which is preferable? Being a Phone Sex Operator, paying my taxes and my way. Or raking benefits in and doing nothing?!

OK so it isn't to everybodys taste, but the Adult industry is BIG money. Phone Sex Operators, !!!!!! Stars, Sex Texting... fact is. IT SELLS. People make big money doing it and that money feeds their families. There will be hundreds of men on this site who phone sex lines, watch !!!!!!, text for sex texts... the majority of them are lonely guys looking for company.

I resent your comment that it isn't a legitimate job.

You don't need £300 to register - in fact £300 could be your first weeks wages. So i don't know why that is not legitimate to you.
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something

Whoah ho ho! You took that SO out of context it hurts!

Thank you fior the beginning where you explained the tax and the fact that several people HAVE got the job - that's all I was after really. I DO hope Sky Broadband is legit as that's who I connect with...

As for the long rant that came after that (well, it was a bit) - I wasn't slating anyone and I think you need to re-read my post along the lines of I was asking in general.

There's a 3,283,476,495 (almost) post long thread on this forum somewhere about phone sex text lines and reading it - it sounds like a lot of people do a hell of a lot of work for not much money - or they've been messed around etc. That's all I mean. To be honest, I don't care what people do to earn money. I very much wasn't judging anyone.

All I asked was - are there any legitimate jobs? There's lots posted on these forums where it all looks good and then all goes to pot in the end.

I very much hope this particular job works out for a lot of people. I applied earlier and I hope to fit it around my current job - as I've been looking for something like this for ages.

PLEASE don't take this out of context too!

It was sa-aaaaaaaarcasm! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

There's LOTS of jobs and companies on the internet where they say - send us your cv and we'll find you an ace job. Yes - we'll do it all. You just need to send us £299.99 to cover our management fees - but we'll have you employed within a week.

    Disclaimer
(This is hypothetical and I am unable to provide a link to an exact company with these terms.) :p:p

There are several things here really... a lot of "jobs" involve you being self-employed. Even legitimate ones. It is difficult/expensive/time-consuming for companies to employ people with all the legislation. So they make jobs available on a self-employed basis.

I thought about sex chat lines. Never had the nerve.
I trialled the text chat. It didn't really suit me.

Neither of these would ever make "good money". But some companies work a bit differently. There are two ways the sex chat lines are run.

[1] They pay you an hourly equivalent rate for the time you spend actually on the phone chatting. So you decide on a shift and you route their phone to you - and when the phone rings you pick it up and answer it... chat for (say) 10 minutes then hang up. For that you'd be paid 10 minutes. The company know you were chatting 10 minutes because their system routed the call. End of story. The company does the advertising
[2] Trolling. This is where you spend all your spare time trying to bring in the business. Hanging out at chatsites/forums and actively promoting your number. These companies pay more/better because you are bringing in the customers.

So if you want more money, go down the [2] route... although ultimately it isn't THAT hard to set up your own company and doing it for yourself. But you'll still need experience of how a company like that runs before you start doing it for yourself.

Most real work from home jobs are in the inbound call centre type jobs. Where you're paid an hourly fee to answer phones. Sales jobs and telesales jobs are ideal. Or audio typing work.

I've done telephone market research and telesales. I've also done audio typing. I've been paid up to £12/hour for this type of work. Always self employed though.

There's a whole bunch of jobs on http://www.real-work-at-home.co.uk - although it's not been updated during the summer hols. Always worth looking there. They are real jobs, even big salary jobs. And it's free. (gotta love free!)

People are often too quick to decide things are a scam, just because they don't understand or don't embrace what they are reading. A scam is where somebody sets out to defraud somebody by taking their money and running, never to be seen again.

Sometimes the adverts for work from home jobs sail close to the wind. If the word "opportunity" is used, it usually means there is some payment. That doesn't make it a scam. If the words "home business" are used, again, payment of some sort is usually required. Again, it doesn't make it a scam.

As for it taking a lot of effort sometimes, the amount of effort you put into earning money from home depends on your prior knowledge and experience too. If we all answered an advert to knit scarves from home, buy your own wool and needles and we will pay you £2.50 for each one .... I know I'd be on about 50p/week!

    :)

I wasn't ranting. You explicitly stated you wanted a legitimate job - NOT phone sex etc. That IS a legitimate job. If you're good at it, your pay increases and a good op can easily match trolling rates with a Dispatch company. To get this job I had to send over my Passport, Bank Statement and NI number. I paid nothing up front and have only reaped good rewards from it. And I could earn the same doing a 40 hour job in an office - but MORE.

This very much depends on who you work for. I see people being messed around in Tesco's, M & S, 02 on these boards... and they are well respected companies. I am not condoning the treatment of the girls who have been screwed around, but this is not just with Sex Industry jobs.

All I asked was - are there any legitimate jobs? There's lots posted on these forums where it all looks good and then all goes to pot in the end.

Plenty of legitimate home working jobs - if you take the time and effort to search for them.

I very much hope this particular job works out for a lot of people. I applied earlier and I hope to fit it around my current job - as I've been looking for something like this for ages.

I didn't take anything out of context in the first place.

  • I am watching the thread with interest. I applied about an hour ago, but am off on my hols next week, so even if I did pass the tests and system requirments, I would not be able to start the training until I got back a week later.

    Wishing you all luck.
