Cam belt change cost

The old Fiestas had chains instead of belts, they never needed changing. Check the official service schedule to see if it does need doing.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Lol at Dark Matter that thinks not changing the oil once in the best part of a decade would mean his camchain would not have snapped yet!
The trouble with a fantasist is that they really need a basis of fact in their drivel or it just becomes tedious.
A bit like Dark Matter and his many identities.0 -

By what definition?
The fact it hasn't snapped yet?
Or by the recommendation of Ford?
Am fairly certain the interval was quite long on those but doubt it was 16yrs.0 -

I suppose the only good thing is, if the cambelt snaps and takes the engine with it, the car may be worth more as scrap than bothering to change the belt;)0 -
Hi everyone,
Does anyone have an idea about how much is it to change a Cam belt on a 07 ford focus, the cheapest I got so far is 280 from a local mechanic, and i'm not sure if that is the price for it, or can one get it done for cheaper ?
Any tips or advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Good price considering parts are probably £130, and it's a messy and time consuming job.0 -

The interval, at least for the MK2 Focus I had, was 8yr/100k whichever comes first.
Saying that, the cambelt setup, because as already said it does not run anything else, is actually a more relaxed one than most so it's not that common to fail. Good engineering by Ford.
16 yr old belt in that one - definitely on borrowed time, it needs either done or save for a new car when it goes bang.0 -
Hi, I've just had MOT and service done and was told I need new cam belt and water pump. Nothing wrong when I put it in and now is terrible. Had a new crankshaft, pulley, tensioner, timing belt in 2013 and my car is Hyundai Amica 2006 1.1L and I only do 3000 per year, 8000 on the clock. Would they have adjusted it to make more money coz I'm sick of being ripped off.0

Sorry if I'm barking up the wrong tree, but is it a Duratec engine? (only mention this as my wife has a Fiesta the same age with a Duratec engine and I seem to remember that the timing chain is supposed to last the life of the car, but should be checked /adjusted at 100K intervals)0
