any suggestions welcome

Hey all,

ok so i have got to use up some of my annual leave at work before the end of the year, so i am looking at going away somewhere, i have traveled all over the UK, but not gone any further, so am looking for something different but have no idea on where i want to go or what i want to do lol, if it makes any difference, i am male, early 30s, live in the South East so looking at London Airports, generally dont like just sitting and watching the world go by, as i cant see the point of going somewhere new and not actually seeing it

it can only really be for a few days due to my contact arrangements with my daughter, every Wednesday, every other weekend, and the odd sunday/monday on the other weekends depending on what my ex 'needs', and unfortunately its not worth asking to change days etc due to the fall out that can happen. so basically I'm looking at Thursday till Saturday/early Sunday AND of course as cheap as possible

now i have been trying to look around and so far spotted Portugal or Amsterdam, so just wondering what other places would be worth looking into - honestly i am totally open to pretty much anything just so long as i can get to it within my limited days :D

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

It's too open a question really, everyone has an opinion and many will not match yours.

I'd be tempted to drop onto skyscanner, and do some general searches from London to everywhere within the dates you are looking at, presumably November to December this year.

Price might not be an absolute factor but working up from the lowest will guve you a good idea of what is available and where you might go, it would be a heck of a list to relate if you looked at all options from London within or adjacent to Europe, from Reykjavik, to Moscow, to turkey, Israel, Morocco, and all points in between.

Yes you can get some cracking deals to Eastern Europe - flights around £30 each way, hotels are easy enough to find around £20-30 a night or less.

Of course I would look at going south for the sunshine. So AMS would be out. Portugal is good at the moment. I would look at Faro, then Lisbon and lastly Oporto/Porto. But that would be in order of the warmest weather. Overall Lisbon might be best and I think both Ryanair and Easyjet fly there. Ryanair from £70 to £82 dependent on flight times for next Thursday to Sunday.
Alternatively, try southern Italy. Again, some low cost airline choices there.
Currently, you are looking at temperatures of up to 24 degrees in southern Portugal. So that could be your best best for weather and cost of living. Southern Italy, perhaps around 19 degrees. Still ok.
Eastern Europe sounds depressing. :) Poland even colder and wetter than the UK.
Istanbul also sounds interesting, but I fear by December the temperature and weather will have changed. So better to pay a little more to go asap. Perhaps around £100 with Pegasus or Turkish Airlines for next Thursday to Sunday, whilst the weather is still good. Forecast between 20 and 25 degrees for those days.

For sight-seeing and activity, I would suggest more or less any city of major historical interest in Europe. Places where I have particularly enjoyed a short and active visit include Istanbul; Sevilla and Barcelona (Spain); Bergamo old town (Italy, with an airport that Ryanair serve and call Milan); Amsterdam (but not for the weather!); Firenze (Italy, served by Pisa airport). There are many more equally good options.
