WHo are these 3rd party service providers?

I have been getting some calls form what I believe are 3rd party phone companies, like FoneHouse.
who say my contract is due for an upgrade and offering my a new contract.

I am currently with EE and FoneHouse have offer a good deal, not as expensive as going direct with EE.
when they called I actually thought they were form EE customer service until they started asking me for my personal details.

with all these Phishing and Cold calls you heard about - is there any disadvantage dealing with these 3rd party companies, should I stay away?

I am not sure what is it for them?

  • Stay away unless they provide written details/confirmation beforehand.

NEVER trust or rely on anything from an unsolicited phone call.
  • Thoughts on this people? I was contacted by a company called fonehouse and they offered to buy my phone contracts from EE and my contract would be half the price but the same deal with free mins and texts etc and they would send me 2 new Samsung S7 but I would now be with O2.......so I phoned EE to see if this was a scam to which EE said no so my next question was what you going to do to keep me as a EE customer to which they said your tied into a contract with us so we can't do anything for you....so I phone fonehouse back set up everything over the phone they requested my pac codes and bank details sorted terms and conditions spoke out to me and a congratulations your now a 02 customer we will do the rest and your phones will be with you within 5 days......2 weeks later I phone up to find out where the phones are and I am told the guy (Alex) who was a top sales guy had been sacked and that this deal no longer stood for me as he was not allowed to offer me this deal 🤔 so I ask why no call to tell me what's happened and this guy replied the deal has been cancelled and then he offered me a new deal which was no better than what I an on with EE 🤔 so I said mate this needs looking into as I am feeling ripped off and he hung up 😬......i believe this should still be honoured??????

Didn't have to drag up an old thread.

I feel you should have stayed with EE or look for a better deal and not rely Fonehouse.

If a company that i have not dealt with previously phone me to offer me anything then i think they are either a scam or they are a desparate company to have to cold call for business.

Then i have to wonder how they got my details. Got an issue with Vodafone over this but missed their call.

Took out a contract for the wife under my name, i have never used the phone so no links to me other than its my account. So how can she get spam calls for me on her handset?
Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

  • This is as old as the hills, years ago I had an Orange PAYG phone that I used only occasionally, using perhaps £10 worth of calls a year. I received a call on it from a 3rd party who clearly weren't Orange as they didn't know how little I used the phone.

My suspicion was they were working on behalf of Orange as they were trying to sell an Orange contract to "save me money". Which was obviously not possible with a new contract to phone.

I would avoid these people like the plague, never ever deal with cold callers.

Watch out for a huge ETC from EE then.
