Christmas music in shops etc

Comments

  • I think after hearing the exact same Christmas music for over 20 years, I simply cant abide it, people see me a humbug at times but I cant stand it!
  • I hate it - I walked into M&Co on 1st November, heard "Driving home for Christmas" playing. Turned round and walked straight back out again.

The staff have my deepest sympathies.

I do wonder does a shop not playing Xmas music get more sales as some customers notice this and spend more

Why do you work in a shop OP, is there nothing else you can do? It seems you dislike *everything* about your job!
This day and age one cannot be choosy about the job they are in. Its no longer a simple case of walking out of one job and into another.

Imagine a JSA claimant telling the benefits office they "dislike that kind of work"

It would work for me that. It would save on my batteries when having to use my mp3 player to drown it out. ;)

  • I dislike music rest of year there nearly always covers of songs I suspect so they dont have to pay as much royalties. Most not anyway near as good as originals and they ruin the song ;) You even get it on xmas songs as well covers on Now Xmas Chris Rea was one such song trashed by a nobody
  • I heard my first Christmas songs in a shop on the 3rd November in B&M stores.

Don't think I've ever heard it earlier than this in the past.

I cant stand wall to wall Christmas music.

Mainly cover versions (99p stores in particular).

Does me a favour really as I shop quicker to get out when I hear Xmas music being played in a shop.

Noted today M&S in my town is now getting in on the act.

Fortunately my Boss is kind enough not to pay for the appropriate licenses we'd need to play music in the shop where I work...

It must get irritating, though... Like the fact I know the week before Christmas we'll have Cadbury Creme Eggs on sale!
