Vodafone verbal contract

Hi there
I am due an upgrade on my contract with Vodafone and was contacted by their upgrade team. I was offered an IPhone 6s for free on a 24m contract, unlimited mins, unlimited texts, 6g data for £45 per month. After I shopped around I found I could get the same deal from mobilephonesdirect for £39 per month. A couple of days later the same person rang back to ask if I wanted to go ahead. I explained I could get it cheaper and after a few mins negotiating she offered me the same contract for £36 per month which I though was a great deal so asked her to go ahead. I recieved email conformation that an order had been placed but it did not specify taffif etc only that a courier company would confirm a time slot for delivery. This happened on a Thursday and she said it would be delivered on the Monday.
I took the Monday off work waiting for delivery or correspondance from the courier company but nothing arrived. I called Vodafone on the Tuesday and was told that the order had been cancelled and they didn't know why. After half and hour on the phone I was told that no discount should have been offered and they were unable to find the recording of the conversation. I have asked them to make contact with the salesperson and they said they would try to find the recording at her end as it came from another call Centre. It has been 72 hours since first contacting them and I was wondering what my options are?
Do Vodafone have to honour the offered contract?
Can they cancel the contract/delivery without letting me know?
How soon after the complaint do they have to respond?

Any help would be welcome

Thanks
Mark

They have 8 weeks from a formal complaint.

If their salesperson offered a bigger discount than they allow then they wont honour it. From some of the threads on here they are not the best to deal with but i have not had any real issues with them.

Not applying discounts, sorted fairly quickly and they sent me a phone i didnt order or ask for.

  • Beware unsolicited calls from Vodafone, someone else purporting to be Vodafone or anyone else. NEVER agree to anything without having written confirmation of the terms BEFOREHAND.

As for Vodafone - escape while you can, whether they honour it or not.
  • I agree with mobilejunkie- do a runner NOW! Vodafone are simply diabolical- get away!

Its probably not vodafone - but a "premium partner" like onecom, its also likely to be a "business contract" that you might have difficulty getting out of.

I phoned Voda today for an upgrade, having seen prices from mobiles direct etc i gave them that price and got the usual spiel of whats my max figure.

I gave them a figure and they came back saying their price for that phone/tariff is approx £10 more.
I said DM have it on their network for less and not a cashback offer either.

He said thats because they get the phones in bits and assemble them theirselves? I thought what.... Your joking right.
I didn't mention what he said, just left it at i want that price or less. Retentions will be phoning next week.

Still unsure on what phone to get after my Galaxy S4. Unsure if i like the idea of a fixed battery and no SD card on the S6.

It's called social engineering, but in this case it sounds as though vodafone caught the op of guard and likely missold.
