Lamona appliances at Howdens

Can anyone tell me who makes the Lamona range of kitchen appliances for Howdens?
Any thoughts on their quality and reliability?

I fit a lot of Howdens Kitchens and we fit a lot of the Lamona appliances. Hand on heart, we have had no comeback on any of them. Others may tell you otherwise. They all come with a 2 year guarantee as standard.

In terms of who makes them it depends on who the manufacturing contract is currently placed with. it could be Beko, Indeset, Whirlpool etc etc.

We had a lamona dishwasher, washing machine hob and extractor in our last house. Although they did the job, you could tell they were on the cheaper end of the market.

Take for example the washing machine, no out of balance sensor which nearly ruined out washer when a particular load was out of balance and it attempted to spin up.

We had cause to use the warranty on the dishwasher started to make a funny grinding noise. Not an issue, just gave then the invoice number, the fault description and arranged a call out. A couple of days later engineer came out, stripped down the pump and found it to be some loose 'building material' which had worked its way through the system. Despite it being not a product fault, I didn't get charged.

You get what you pay for but on the hole, as long as you are picky and know the limitations then they are fine.
  • I heard from someone that if you have any issue with appliances you need to contact your builder who fitted the kitchen as contract is between howdens and your builder. Howdens doesnt want to know you except your builder but what if your builder is not around anymore. I havent got experience on this myself though! I am getting a howdens kitchen too but I am picking my appliances from currys.

Our house has Lamona appliances, and while they have a whiff of 'cheap' to them, they do what they are meant to and nothing has gone wrong with them so far. They are just coming up to two years old.

We have a gas hob, electric oven, and extractor fan.

Nope, not in my case! I dealt with Howdens/Lamona directly!

All you need is the Howdens invoice which the installer should pass to you which is essentially proof of purchase.
  • a lot of people seem to slag lamona off but I've had an integrated dishwasher, oven and electric hob for almost 6 years and ive never had a problem with anything. couldn't say much more than reliable
  • I had a kitchen from Howdens 5 years ago, comprising of the in house appliances - Washing Machine, Dish Washer, Fridge/Freezer, Microwave, Fan Oven and Hob. The first appliance which needed attention was the Oven, the heating element went in the first year. The part was easily found on the internet for about £15 and I fitted it myself without a problem. I am now on my 3rd element in the 5 years! The washer started to play up after 2 years, it would cut out just before the spin cycle. The problem I found was the balancing system which is incorporated into the machine seems to think the machine is unbalanced when it isnt? The way around it I found was to take the machine out and put it back in at a slight angle, this been said it was still temperamental. In the end I replaced it for another brand. My advice to anybody would be to pay more for better brands, because cheap rubbish like Lamona is false economy in the end.

Cheap basic appliances, many of Beko origin. You get what you pay for.

Check against budget brands on the internet to make sure you are paying the correct price for them as Howdens pricing is a minefield.
  • We've had our dishwasher, washing Machine, hob and extractor for 2 years now with no problems at all, they are good quality very efficient machines. The dishwasher is almost silent and brilliant. All in all 1st class stuff

Been over a year since I made this post now. All appliances still working. I did have to change the bulb in the oven. Total cost: £3
