for difficult to wrap stuff,i.e. odd shaped gifts I use gift bags
  • It's easier to wrap boxes instead of awkward shaped items, so I place these things in a box ( I save different size Delivery boxes for this), then wrap the box! It also has the advantage that kids ( & curious adults ) have no idea what's in them ;)

Also, for neater joins, use double sided tape :)

This is also what I do, unusually shaped or large items that are hard to wrap I put them in a box as it is much easier to wrap boxes.

If you need to cover a seem or join of wrapping paper , I put a fancy bow or ribbon around the box so it looks nice.
  • I have a heavy sellotape dispenser - much easier to use than a small, lightweight one, and definitely preferable to not using one at all.

I also use my ironing board as a wrapping table.
  • Some great tips here :T

I use one of the sellotape wrist straps for ease as they are all individualy cut pieces of tape. I buy seperate wrapping paper for DS, DD, Hubby and then one for family. As the hubby and kids have seperate wrapping paper it saves me having to label every gift. I wrap the gifts and then put them in a huge zip up storage bag https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CAcQjRxqFQoTCPWj4fP2jMkCFYFSGgodLFMDeg&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2FXL-Laundry-Bags-Zipped-Reusable-Large-Strong-Shopping-Storage-Bag-Zip-Carrier-%2F251167460241&psig=AFQjCNGzgB5-Dx0n-RQL9fE5UQ2WSNYsEA&ust=1447487935680329.
We all have a huge bag each, one for my family, one for hubbys family and one for our stockings. I can then zip the bag up and no rick of getting dusty in our loft room. It makes things much easier to see and Whilst wrapping I make a note of the item and any batteries that it needs in my note book.

Would never have thought of that!
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • I do my shopping in one day and then into the perfume shop and get them to wrap the things up as they seem to be experts and throw a few quid for doing it for me.

I did think with it being MSE that we could wrap up in newspaper like fish & chips, & pretend it was a huge joke to hide the fact that your wrap's crap.

But I use bags now as they're quite cheap & can be recycled. I saw some tough looking plastic ones in Poundland, & similar but larger in Home Bargains for er not sure if it was 79p or 89p. There's also some lovely boxes around these days, & not expensive.

Our local Clarks shoe shop used to save boxes if asked. Much easier to pack items in a box.
If you want you can also decorate the box as part of the present.
use a couple of coats of emulsion inside and out- preferably a contrast colour inside, also matt, then acrylic varnish the outside. You can paint a few boxes from a tester pot (cheap in Wilco). For children you can then paint or glue letters for their name making it a personalised "treasure" box.
There are lots of ways to decorate the outside- the world is your oyster!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
