I would also say by the time you include the annual fee and the cost to certify documents any cash back reward on general spending would negate most of any cash back reward this card gives.

I also applied to MBNA all done online, card approved with 7000 limit. Card and pin in 7-10 days.

I just received the same demand. I am very unhappy - do I know any Lawyers, Accountants. Bankers or Doctors? Yes. Am I happy to show those friends or acquaintances my payslip? I think not.

Also, as Professional Engineer I can countersign passport photos, but obviously in the eyes of the AA I don't meet the standards of integrity associated with Bankers, Accountants etc., those well known paragons of honesty and virtue.

What a joke. Not that I could sign off my own documents, but you get the point.

Well make sure the wage slip shows your employer details or it won't be accepted, 3 months after applying and spending two lots of post office certification fees, loads of phone calls, I got a reject letter so not happy and have complained over the process, not expecting then to change but wanted to get my point across.

I applied for this card over a week ago, got an error message right at the submit stage, they said I would get a letter with the decision, no letter yet, now wondering if the application went through? anyone had this happen and how long of a wait for any contact by letter?
  • Well I got declined only took them 3 months to finally tell me, that was after I jumped through hoops and spent £17 on verification documents.

    Good luck

Sorry to hear that John - I wish I had read all these comments before I applied tonight - got the referral decision at the end..although I do have the Post Office credit card so maybe you're not allowed more than one card issued by BoI.

Anyway, I'm not sending all that stuff off to them if that's what they ask for. Tesco just offered me a similar deal with instant approval.
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

You do realise that J Coutts hasn't been on here since 13 November after posting that the day before? I'd be massively surprised if they hadn't voted with their feet by now and gone elsewhere, and if it takes over three months to get a company response on here then who can blame them?

For the sake of balance, I applied for this card and it all went through fine without needing any extra submissions.
  • I applied for a post office credit card online and received it by post in less than a week didnt have to have anything verified
