Writing to Lloyds re removal of late payment markers caused by charges

Options
Hi, grateful for any advice / experience in this area.
I posted about this before but have a clearer picture now as my husband's memory was hazy!

My husband went £7 OD on Lloyds current account and paid £10 in to clear it. Later that month he was charged £70 in 'Unplanned Overdraft Charges' and £6 in 'Overdraft Usage Fees'. He rang them and they agreed a GOGW refund as he didn't have any money to pay the charges. However, they only refunded the £70 - not the £6, which left the account £5 OD.
He assumed it was £1 in credit, stopped using it and didn't check it (I know) for nearly a year. It's now closed and settled.

We're hoping to apply for a mortgage and have no chance with the late payment markers. We're writing to Lloyds detailing extenuating circumstances, with evidence, is there anything else we should include?
We don't know anything about the legal side.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that Lloyds have blacklisted you with late payment markers? Might be worth checking what the CRAs hold against you.
  • Hi, yes that's how he realised what had happened - all the CRAs are showing late payments until the account was settled a couple of months ago. It's the only problem on his credit history.
    Thanks

In that case, yes, you are on a mortgage blacklist. Contact Lloyds and ask them to remove the markers from the CRA files. You'll get nowhere contacting the CRAs, and I'm not sure there's anything else you can do.
  • Thanks, yes, that's what we're doing - writing a letter to Lloyds - I am just posting here to ask if anyone has advice/experience wrt the letter itself.
