Transferred Tesco direct debits showing incorrectly?

Has anyone had any issues transferring across Tesco direct debits with a current account switch? One of mine completed last week and now when I look at my 2 Tesco savings accounts only one of the accounts is showing its direct debit (still under the old bank name) and the new bank is showing 5 direct debits transferred across (normally when I switch it is 3 that get transferred as one on each of the two savings accounts but also always seems to create an additional 'blank' one for £0 when I tick the box to copy the payee details to all my Tesco accounts). Perhaps it is because the transfer only completed Friday and they are still in middle of updating everything but seems a bit strange and not been the case with my other switches. Thanks.

This happened to me when I switched to TSB, I ended up with six DD from telco's not a issue I just waited till the next date the DD were due to be paid, then logged in and cancelled the ones that were not used...

I have no idea why it happened, but no harm, I obviously didn't want to cancel any till they had paid out as they earn me interest.

    Yes, i’ve had similar issues.

    Old current account had 2 DD’s. 1 x Tesco instant Instant access & 1 x Internet saver.

    Switch date mid October.

When switched, new current account shows 5 DD’s.

At the Tesco end, one DD switched and has pulled one payment ok (early November), but has the incorrect amount showing for next months pull. It will actually pull the amount that was set on the other savings account.

2nd DD has been doubled up on savings account insofar that the old DD is still set to pull from old current account early December and a new DD (mandate?) set up on for new account but not set to pull any money. The end date on this one has also been changed from “until further notice” to a set date in about 30 years time. Neither of these pulled early November. I have just completed a “one off” pull on the new mandate.

I also did an additional “one off” pull using the savings account that pulled correctly at start of November.

Current account now shows that 3 of the 5 DD’s have paid out and on the current account statement, 2 of the 3 pulls so far have been flagged as **FIRST PAYMENT** (complete with asterisks).

I will do additional “one off” pulls early December if req’d.

It’s a mess. Just hoping that I still get the switching bonus.

I had similar issues on another switch about a year or so ago and that one paid the bonus ok. After the bonus was paid, I tidied everything, so fingers crossed for this one.

Yes. I switched 10 days ago and had a call from tesco that they had a problem switching DDs that had not yet made payments. I lost about 6 in the transfer but fortunately all but 1 weren't ones I needed

How many of the 5 showing under your new current account also show on your Tesco list? As of my 5, none are showing as payable to the new bank on my Tesco list although 1 is showing payable to the old bank. So not sure how I can amend the mandate to do a one off pull like you have done if the mandate is not showing in my Tesco list? And if I set it up anew then it won't count as a direct debit being transferred across. That said, clicking on the 'status' of each of the 5 under my new bank's list shows them all as being 'active' so even if they do not pay out I still think I should qualify for offer as the switch incentive t & c just state that I must switch and maintain 2 active direct debits at least until incentive payment is made so nothing stating that they must actually pay out.

At the Tesco end, I have 1 on the Instant access list & 1 on the Internet saver list.

There has been one pull so far into the Internet saver that seems ok.

There have been 2 pulls into the instant access account. Although they both use the same mandate into the same account, they show up as having pulled on 2 different mandates on the current account end.

Not sure if it is worth you setting up new DD’s, so at least something gets pulled. I was looking at similar (same) T&C’s as you a few days ago. Hopefully you will be ok.

Thanks, think I will wait for now and see what happens later this month when the first payments are due under the mandates I originally set up and see which ones, if any, get pulled.

Interestingly I have now received a letter from the new bank confirming the Tesco direct debits that have been transferred across and it just lists the three I was expecting as opposed to their website which shows the five so not sure why they are telling me something different from what is on my account on their website.

And separately I have recently completed another switch using Tesco direct debits and this time one of the direct debit dates has changed to a date 4 days earlier at the new bank....lucky I noticed else it would have bounced.

So definitely worth double checking your Tesco direct debits once your switch has completed!

I had a similar letter from bank showing 3 DD’s , yet showing 5 online. Definitely worth monitoring, as you suggest.

Had my direct debits date pass now and turns out Tesco did take two payments for the correct amounts but both into the same Savings account rather than separate ones. No issue though as direct debit mandates for my other Tesco savings account are still listed amongst the five under my current account so will definitely qualify for switch incentive. (And in any case even though these two payments were pulled into same savings account they still show under different and separate direct debit mandates on my current account list.)

I'm getting a bit worried now, opened a TSB account as part of the £125 joining offer towards the end of October. I rapidly set up a couple of direct debits on an old current account and switched it, the switch completed on the 16th November. Now despite the DD having transferred to the TSB account neither of them have been paid and presumably the DDs have to pay out within 28 days of the switch (14th Dec) to qualify. I'm scrambling to set up some new ones but doubt they will go through in time :(
