We need a new fridge freezer and were thinking of Currys
They claim to offer FREE DELIVERY on large goods
but they charge £35 to install a fridge, which is excessive - isn't it ?
What is AO really like ?

Bought a tumble dryer from AO, was really impressed with their service. One thing to note is that they contract out their deliveries, so your experience may depend on who delivers it. The guys that delivered to me were really good, called to update me with their progress, plus I have restricted access and they walked the tumble dryer 200m, which I was very pleasantly surprised at.
Thumbs up from me.0 -
As above, delivery can be a lottery. I had a washing machine from AO & it was delivered by two blokes in an unmarked van, they dumped it in the garage still on its pallet & went to leave. Under duress they lifted it into the utility room but I didn't think it was wise to let them unpack & install it.
£35 to install a fridge/freezer? They're not heavy, you put it in its place & plug it in (after letting it settle for a while). If it's an American style side by side with cold water dispenser then the doors will have to come off & it will have to be plumbed in, I can't see Currys doing that for £35.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -

I don't know why the doors necessarily have to come off, but Currys will do it all for £35. I wouldn't pay that for them just to plug one in though.0 -
I cant speak for Currys but i would recommend AO.
Recently had a dishwasher delivered, was told in the morning between what hours it would be delivered, and the driver phoned when they were about half hour from my house.
Very polite and the delivery men even offered to disconnect the old dishwasher and put it into my garage if i wanted, even though i declined their offer.
Also, ordered and delivered for free within two days, and was the best price for what i wanted when i looked at other shops.0 -
I recently ordered an American style fridge freezer from Very which was delivered by Knowhow who actually deliver and install on behalf of Currys. They had to remove the doors to get the fridge freezer in then replace and install, all for a small delivery charge of £6.95.0

had an oven from AO and a fridge freezer from Currys.
AO wins by an edge, simply because you can pick a 4 hour delivery slot.
Currys free delivery is a 7-7 window and you find out the night before which 4 hour block you are in, which makes planning your day a bit harder.
Both drivers were excellent, moving the item down a lane without question.
I would use both again, picking the cheapest.0 -

That'll be why mine didn't come off then, no internal doorways to contend with.0 -
My friend ordered a Fridge Freezer through Currys and 6 weeks after the so called delivery date she had still not got the FF. She was constantly on the phone <expensive number which keeps u hanging on for 30 mins> to sort it out and promised it would be but it never was so she got a refund and was offered a Currys voucher for compensation which she didnt accept it as never shopping there again.
She ordered a better FF from AO and got it delivered 3 days later.0
