woud you consider B&W TV a valid option?

I am currently taking part in a discussion about the B&W license in another forum, and it has been suggested that people are using B&W TVs, so they only have to pay the B&W license.
Whilst true the B&W license is cheaper, other than the very elderly, who would consider B&W a valid option?
Two more points I would like to make
1) whilst I accept that older people, may have dragged their heels to upgrade, they get a free colour license and we have had DSO, so very few of those elderly people would be in this position.
2) if your someone under 60, and you are in a bad way money wise, that you feel you can not afford a colour license anymore, you may look at B&W, but whilst I feel that is not a valid option, would you not discount B&W, as its a further saving, to help either elsewhere in the budget, or to protect against future budget cuts?
The sums add up, you can run a black and white TV cheaper than colour, but how many people would really downgrade to save the money?

I haven't seen a B&W television for sale for years.
I think i've got an old portable one in the loft.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I think the whole license is extortion and choose not to pay b and w or colour.
It's clearly outdated because as you say, the b and w is probably only going to be relevant, in most cases, to people who are as old as old can be any don't know much different.
But it is similar to how they say you don't need a license to watch the i player even though on the iplayer you can click a button and get live tv.
So, if you can own a laptop with the internet and not need a license to watch i player, why are people buying new tv's forced to give tvl info?
It's in need of scrapping.

Yes its a valid option if people choose to watch tv in B&W thats there choice as its those who choose not to have one assuming they dont watch live tv to support pedo rings in BBC and pay 2 salaries + expenses Alan Yentope0

You don't need a license if you only use iPlayer for catch up, but if you use it to view live TV as well then you do.WannaBLoaded wrote: »why are people buying new tv's forced to give tvl info?
They're not anymore. The law changed over 2 years ago.0 -
Regarding the OP who says these people are actually using B&W tvs as opposed to buying a B&W licence and watching colour TV .0
