Although we don't know, as this was a free gift, that a warranty was given for the sound bar. Hence my question in post #3.
I would of thought that they would have had to state the free gift had no warranty if it was given without. The OP needs to speak to Argos, but I doubt there will be a problem.0 -

There's no requirement for a warranty to be offered. If the gift were faulty, the consumer would have rights under legislation (just to add, this is the case where a "free" gift forms part of a contract of sale, if something is truly given free - without anything of value being promised in exchange - then no contract is formed and SoGA/CRA wouldn't apply).
But tbh, its rare for items not to have a warranty as it inspires brand confidence. I don't think OP should have problems either (although I suppose stranger things have happened!).You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
