Boiler cover worth it

I have a 9 year old boiler so I have never bothered with boiler cover. However I did get a thing through the post from Corgi - is it worth it?

I serviced a 5yr old boiler on Thursday. The inner flue seals had perished allowing moisture back into the inside of the boiler.. Rust had already covered a fair amount of the inner casing.
None of this was visible from the outside of the boiler.0 -
I would not normally bother with this type of product as the odds will be stacked in favour of loosing more money than saving money - there will probably be all sorts of exclusions and get-out clauses so I'd keep the premiums in the bank towards a new boiler if it does ever die.0

It depends what make and model of boiler you have. Modern ones, well the repair costs can be horrendous and try to get someone to fix it at short notice..tricky..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Mine is a Worcester and so far it has been fine.0

It's personal preference whether you have cover or not. In strictly financial terms it probably wouldn't make sense, the companies make money so the user must be paying for that profit. Cover may give you peace of mind though so it depends on what you think that's worth.
My boiler has been in about 10 years, it's gone wrong 3 times. The first time I did lots of research on the internet, found out it was a simple problem & fixed it. While doing that research I came across several forums frequented by heating engineers discussing boiler faults. The number of times I read "I've changed lots of bits, spent £500 & it still doesn't work" worried me. So next time it went wrong I called British Gas, he fixed it in about half an hour & it cost about £70. The last time I called British Gas it took a bit longer & cost about £200.
The other argument for having cover is that at least you'll get someone out, well British Gas came within 24 hours both times so that wasn't a problem. A lot of people have it in for big companies like BG but in my experience (with this boiler & previously) they come quickly, they know what they're doing & they fix it at the first attempt.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -

As CORGI hasn't existed for several years now, I would be very careful."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
This is being advertised on TV at the moment. I have not looked at the relationship between it and the former CORGI if any, but I imagine its what he OP has details for

The company have merely used the name CORGI in an attempt to give it some trade body legitimacy.
I have avoided them like the plague as IMHO its an underhand tactic.0 -
I suspect that they are the same company, just trying to find themselves a market now that they have lost their status as the registering body for gas fitters.0

Corgi home plan have been around for yrs & yes it's the same coI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
