No allegedly about it if he doesn't already have a joint FlexDirect account (and hasn't had one in the last 12 months). ;)

Now that is not what I meant, and well you know it.

Be careful if you have any linked products such as a credit card. You may have to close those aswell.

Would a downgrade to FlexAccount, followed by an upgrade to FlexDirect in 12 months time, rule out the possibility of Quidco, TCB or RAF on the new FlexDirect?

On the (upgraded) new FlexDirect, yes. On a new FlexDirect, no.

    no for the OP.

Let me know if you get back to 5% on NW

Upgrade back up to a Flexdirect went very smoothly. All via internet and new debit card received today.

Have placed a small amount in there to ensure I get the 5% in a couple of days.

I'll feed back on when interest is paid.

Halifax can pay a fiver a month though
And M&S and First Direct come with regular savers which pay 6% and could be used to drip feed the £2.5K into.

(Note also that the M&S switching bonus comes in the form of a voucher to spend in M&S rather than cash).

Don't forget that you'll have to deposit at least £1,000 each month to get the 5%. (You can of course transfer the £1,000 out again.)

Thanks pafpcg - that's already sorted (also remembering it had to come from an external source) and also added to a growing list of things I do the first of each month.

Gosh, yes, it's such arduous work all this shuffling money from account to account!

(The terminally lazy, like me of course, set up monthly standing orders to do the transfers without having to lift a finger, occasionally bestirring ourselves to rake in the accrued interest.....)

    Or open a flexplus account.

Excellent packaged account for £10 a month:

    free world wide travel insurance
free breakdown cover for any vehicle you are in or any one driving vehicles registered to you with your permission (so covers your kids/partner/relative/friend driving your car too even if you aren't in the car)
    free mobile phone insurance
free cash withdrawals worldwide with no currency transactions
free extended warranties for goods you buy over £50 including computers
3% interest on first £2.5k which covers half the £10 cost
