We were told it had to be checked by Wales and West, so your plumber might not be able to do it. It was free and they came on Monday after we rang on Friday, so very quick.

I will get the plumber to check the incoming gas main when he is next here. Is economy 7 really bad?
Not at all, in the right situation it is really good.

E7 is designed for off-peak water and space heating, so as a general rule it wont pay to be on it if you have gas for water and space heating. That is not to say that it can't pay, but you will need to look at unit rates carefully and work out your day-night usage ratio. Usually it is quite tight and offers a minimal saving for quite a bit of extra effort. A lot of people decide it is easier to just go on flat rate to save themselves the hassle.

If the "plumber" has any sense he will leave well alone.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I think the meter has never been there, just the pipe work which is capped off.

What sort of pipe? Plastic or Metal? Diameter? Colour?
