POPLA and Ombudsman Services Ltd

Thanks to the guidance on this forum I registered an appeal with POPLA in August 2015.

I received the following email from POPLA on 10th September 2015:

"Thank you for contacting us seeking to register an appeal with the Parking on Private Land Appeals (POPLA) service, which London Councils currently operates for the British Parking Association.
As the operation of POPLA is passing from London Councils to Ombudsman Services Limited on 1 October 2015, the British Parking Association has asked us not to register any further appeals.
Your details have therefore been collected and will be passed to Ombudsman Services Limited who will contact you as soon as they are able to register appeals, which will be on or shortly after the 14th September 2015. When they contact you, Ombudsman Services Limited will advise you about what you will then need to do to register your appeal. Please do not send any further evidence before you have heard from Ombudsman Services Limited.
In the meantime, we have copied this letter to UK Parking Control Limited . This will ensure the operator takes no further action to pursue this parking charge notice until advised by Ombudsman Services Limited."

Since this email from POPLA I have not been contacted by Ombudsman Services Ltd but have recently received a 'Demand For Payment' letter from DRP.

When I access the Ombudsman Services Ltd website it appears that they do not deal with parking matters!

I would appreciate some guidance on where I stand and who I should now contact, particularly in view of the recent Supreme Court judgement regarding the Beavis case.

Thanks.

  • Thanks but I have already been there and it doesn't help in my particular case. There is no record of my PCN number on 'Track an Existing Claim' and as I said, Ombudsman Services appear not to be dealing with parking related matters.
  • If you registered a POPLA appeal before 21 August 2015 this will have been with another service provider and unfortunately we are unable to help you. To seek assistance you should send an email to aos@britishparking.co.uk
If you have registered a POPLA appeal since 21 August 2015 then we will be handling this for you. Please follow the instructions on this website to track the status of your appeal.
  • @ Debtdaddy email directly your appeal to Ombudsman Services as a PDF appeal - quote your POPLA number

    email address: info@popla.co.uk
copy the the complaints email address complaints@popla.co.uk

and make a formal complaint to the BPA

    gemma.d@britishparking.co.uk

This is a common occurrence in the changeover period.......

    which Parking company?

@ EF - the OP had confirmation that the Ombudsman Services would deal with this, therefore the code was registered after 21.8.15 :-)

Many thanks for this info. The parking company concerned is UK Parking Control Ltd. The car park in question is a free car park but my van was overlapping two spaces.
