O/S Daily Thread Saturday 7th November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
RR, fantastic news about Noodles.
Judi, how scarey for you, my ex used to get very aggressive when drunk, I had to walk on eggshells to protect the children.
We think MIL is now in her last few days now, we are hoping BIL3 is home from his holiday today & can be persuaded to visit.
I stayed in bed all night, but didn't sleep well, hubby kept reaching out, needing reassurance that I was there.
I felt like the weight of the world had lifted off my shoulders once MIL was admitted to the hospice, the constant battle to get her the palliative care she needed is now over, the hospice care is impeccable.
They are also managing to rein in some of BIL4's lunacy at her bedside, but not the threatening phone calls, we can deal with those if MIL is well cared for.
We will visit again today & tomorrow, yesterday evening we went out for a meal to the local carvery, my meal planning has gone out of the window I'm afraid as I never know when we will be rushing off.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning :hello:
lonewhitewolf I hope yesterday was OK for you xx
Hester I'm glad you feel more relaxed, please get some rest xx
I had one thing planned yesterday and I didn't even manage that. Mr tru had an eye test at 10am, I was going to clean the carpet when he got back. He decided to visit a few shops, come back and cook, then spend the afternoon faffing with chillis. He spread everything out all over the kitchen. I gave up and plonked myself on the sofa, if I'd have stayed anywhere near him I would've shoved his head through a window or something, I was so angry! I swear he does it on purpose. Actually I know he does it on purpose.
It very wet and windy here, there's no way I'm going for a walk in this weather. I'm going to break my own rule – which I'll probably regret, lol – and play a ball game with Scampi in the house. If he doesn't burn off some energy, he's a chaotic whirlwind of trouble
I feel exhausted for no reason whatsoever so after I've updated my spends spreadsheet I'm just going to potter about, doing whatever I fancy or maybe nothing at all

We are heading to Nottingham later to see dd1 ( it's a half way point between her and us ) we are having lunch together , looking forward to that . It's her graduation in a couple of weeks I'm so excited :j got my outfit for it yesterday
Done a fair amount of Xmas shopping now just the dds and DH to sort , there are quite a few birthdays in November to buy for too but I'm getting there
Didn't sleep last night ,not sure why I do this sometimes I even tried a hypnotherapy thing for relaxation and insomnia , it didn't work
I can have an early night tonight though to make up for it
Off I go to work , have a good day everyone xx0 -
Good to hear from you Hester
It must be such a relief to know MIL is in the best possible place, and she will have all the care she needs. I am glad you were able to go out for a meal last night, I know you won't have had time to shop much, but also a change of environment for you and DH.
In circumstances like yours, I think most of us would agree that our men are not as strong as ourselves. I know with Himself he needs constant reassurance when things are not right, yet we are able, usually, to cope with day to day events, as well as the awful things that sometimes happen in families.
I am off to the hairdressers this morning for a much needed trim, I have towels in the dryer at the moment because it is pouring here.
I think we are having fish and chips this evening. This is a rare occurrence, but Himself and DGD1 fancied it, so it will save me cooking, so can't be bad.
Try to have a good day all

Morning one and all (((((HUGS TO HESTER))))) You sound more positive this morning now you know MIL is in the best hands. Try and ignore the BIL's as best you can.
It's Mr TA's birthday today. It's also the day of middle DGD7's debut in the To You I Dance show at Bradford Alhambra this evening. We are going for a meal first at a new restaurant nearby, which looks lovely and gets excellent reviews. DGD gets a break from rehearsals at 4.45 so table booked for 5.00. We are all going through on the train mid afternoon. DD's ex's dad and stepmum coming with us! (His ex and partner, his mum and stepdad also going to the show but not joining us for the meal! That would be too much to cope with!!!!))
This morning we need to pack our stuff for Liverpool as we are planning on the 11.40 train in the morning. Mr TA will need a separate bag for his hospital stay too. I am already worrying over what's ahead so today will take my mind off it hopefully.
We seem to be inundated with visitors. Mr TA's DB called yesterday with a birthday card and pressie for him, then my DB and SIL called with a card for him and a gorgeous bouquet for me! His youngest sis is calling this morning but no word of a visit from his eldest sis yet! (I'm not holding my breath on that!!)
Have a good day one and all ((((((HUGS))))) to those in need. SNOOZER glad to see you back and hope you continue to improve. GERS enjoy your weekend in B'ham. RR good news re Noodles. Take care all xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Hester - glad to here that you are happier with MIL care, strength to you and your DH.
Well, just back from a wild and woolly walk with the girls, did hold back until the rain had stopped a bit but quite a few big branches down so the wind has taken its toll. Still stupidly mild though, feels almost muggy in my waterproof.
Got very wet yesterday when we went into town but managed to pick up everything including some new wellies, good rubber ones as well for a tenner in a sale. We were going to treat ourselves to a coffee out but everywhere was so busy with the rain just picked up a couple of sticky buns and come home.
Didn't finish all my chores yesterday so will do that this morning but other than that my time is my own, have a couple of bits of mending to do so might find an old film on the tele this afternoon.
Have good day all, hugs to all x0 -
Morning aLloyd quick post before I have a fast shower and head off to get the train. I've read down to here and send love to those that need it, and happy birthday Mr TA.
I have been up since 3, this is getting beyond ridiculous, my sleep pattern has always been poor but this is some cosmic joke. I need not to sleep on the train and miss my stop.
Pouring rain, what a treat.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all wet and windy here in north Kent at the moment I am not stepping foot over the doorstep today I am staying in the warm, ironing, baking and knitting with a bit of catch-up television thrown in
H/H try to get some sleep honey I know its hard but the coming few weeks will be taxing on you.Well done on getting the best for your MIL

HH - So pleased you can relax a bit now MIL has the care she needs. I would imagine shopping and cooking are the last things on your mind, just do what you feel like.
Happy Birthday to Mr TA, have a lovely time this evening and hope the hospital visit goes well.
tru - Hope today is a better day for you.
Well, surprise, surprise, it's raining again. The towels on the airer were put in front of the dying fire when I went to bed so they just needed 10 mins in the dryer this morning. There's a dark load in that will have to hang about on the rack today.
Chest of drawers for DD has now been waxed and polished, I'll take them up to her tomorrow - they are taking up too much room in the kitchen! Also have her bedding to return, all washed and dried.
Not much planned for today, need to have a look for a bathroom cabinet and mirror and also get some pictures, etc down from the loft. Now the walls are painted I can put things up again but will get the builder to do them so I don't make a mess!
Have a good weekend everyone. Take care. XX0 -
