Morning all,
Hester - had early night yesterday and only just read your post, that is good news and not only is your MIL in the best place for her but also the Hospice staff have plenty of experience in dealing with difficult relatives.
Judi - poor you, must have had an awful night, be gentle with yourself today.
Red ruby - that is good news re Noodles, hopefully the little soul has found his forever home.
Dark and cloudy on morning walk with the girls but still surprisingly mild, would much prefer cold and bright.
Missed a parcel delivery yesterday so am off to local town to pick up, other than that just have chores to do, go through the house and will pop in to see my horse. Have gone backwards a bit with him, it's clear he is in pain as was naughty yesterday when rode him, totally not like him so clearly something is wrong. Am going to get second opinion and ask another vet to take a look, luckily he is insured so that will help as suspect he will need scans.
Take care everyone x0 -
A quick visit as must get ready to work, meant to be day off but some things just have to be done, doesn't matter in the scheme of things.
Hester that must be such a relief, a nicer place and with caring staff.
Judi that must be very scary, hope he us full of remorse
Haven't had time to read ,more, apologies
Have a good day allI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Hester glad she i more comfortable now. At least thats one less thing to worry about.
Judi feel for you. it was bad enough when my now 18 year old came home drunk and i had to clean up her recycled booze from the carpets at midnight.
Well had the rare chance of a lay in today and wouldnt you know i was awake at 4.45am. Then broadband went down again only after it being fixed yesterday so i am waiting impatiently for 8.30 to call them. Going to be a mixed day of emotions today as its 9 years today since my mum passed away so trying to keep busy.
DW on. WM on for second time and tumble on.No idea what i am doing for dinner tonight untill i rummage in the freezer.
Anyhoo hugs to all in need xBright Blessings xx0 -
Good Morning everyone, wet, grey and dull here again today but it can do whatever it wants to because we're off to meet DD2 and my Zebra so my day is already full of sunshine just in prospect.
HESTER I'm so pleased that your efforts have been successful and that Mum in law is now in the safe haven of a Hospice with people who will care for her, support her family and especially support you love. DD2 did a rotation at a Hospice as part of her general training after graduating from University and said it was the best place she had ever worked in with the best team of people too. She as a medic could do FULLY the job that she was able to do. She was obviously not immune to the sadness of losing a friend every time someone came to the end of their life path but to be able to fully support their families, keep them pain free and as positive as she could helped everyone enormously. I hope that your MILs last few days will be spent with the people who can make them happy ones and that your memories will not all be of fighting for her welfare but golden memories of a peaceful and gentle going to rest.
Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning, ((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) if you need one especially Hester and Judi.
Hester so pleased that your MIL is now in the hospice where she will be cared for properly to the end. Wonder if BIL2 will take up the offer of councelling, he sounds a very unhappy controlling person. At least the Hospice staff will be able to deal with him.
Judi, how awful for you, best thing you could do calling for help with him. My eldest son came home 'pie eyed' just once, he was vomiting in the toilet, I pushed his head down and flushed the loo so his head got soaked, cruel? No.......it did sober him up a bit; the next morning he got a lecture, never came home in that state again. I just cannot stand drunken people.
Well we have a fine morning, OH has an optician appointment and I just know its going to be expensive............aarrgghhhh I am trying to put back the cash I had to use to move, its one thing after another.
Yesterday we called in to the stove shop and spoke to the boss man, we have agreed to get the stove put in but not until after Christmas when hopefully finances will be on a better footing. We were sat last night with the guard round the fire when a log spat and a cinder flew over the top of the guard and, fortunately, landed half way over the mat I have in front of the fire, I would have been gutted if it had gone on the carpet.
Time to go, back later maybe.0 -
Well my son has just turned up again. I met him at the gate and told him to come back when his Dad is in. Told him to take the dog back to my eldest son (whos not very happy he's taken off with his dog).
His Dad says he loves me very much but cant come home any earlier (why doesnt that surprise me?) but he loves me.... Great!
For goodness sake i must have done something really bad in a former life. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
H/H: thank goodness your MIL has finally got a place to be comfortable I hope her days will be as pain-free as possible.
Judi: Hope he has a steaming hangover and feels thoroughly ashamed.Try to get some rest honey you are not responsible for his actions
Ruby: Excellent news about the dog it must be a weight off your mind
and Good Morning to all who follow. My young neighbour and his wife lit a few fireworks for their two little girls ,well he went out with a brolly and lit them and the little girls watched from the back door The weather was awful and very wet but their Dad Jamie had promised them so he did bless him he was drenched. They are such a nice young couple and have made their garden very nice with a small play area with toys nearest their back door for the girls and a grow ups bit at the bottom of the garden with decking and seats for grown-ups.His wife is always out down the garden and grows lots of edible things .They are only in their 20's but so sensible. My gardener got them four old tyres which she piled up and filled with earth and grew potato's in the bottom corner of the garden. She said she would love an allotment but they are few and far between locally.I am so lucky that I have them there as in the winter when its frosty she will always knock and see if I need anything at the shops.I rarely do, but its nice to know that she cares bless her.
Today I am off to History club this afternoon its going to be on Houses of Note ,which should be interesting.
Right time for coffee methinks
Cheers chums

Hi everyone,
I've not posted for a while, I've been a bit down but am trying to pull out of it.
Hester, I've been reading about your in-laws with amazement - I thought I had a dysfunctional family. I hope that things are calmer for MIL now.
TA, Judi, Csarina, Dumpling and anyone else who's been going through it over the last few weeks I hope things are getting better.
Not a lot has been going on here, I've been doing minimal housework and maximal (if that's a word) sewing. I've got to stop buying fabric, I have far too much.
DD and SIL have moved into their new house and DH and I have been going down at weekends to help them sorting things and various bits of DIY. DS and fiance are having their kitchen replaced so we have their cat for the duration, she's a sweet little black cat so I don't mind, despite being a dog, rather than a cat person.
With one thing and another we've had less time to visit the house in Yorkshire this year but we went up with friends a couple of weeks ago and introduced them to some of our favourite walks.
DH is working from home today but I have to go to London myself. It's not a chore though because DD has to review the Ivy cafe and has asked me to go with her for lunch, yum.
Have a good day.0 -
My morning has been busy and now I feel that the rest of day will be restful.
I went into town, first visit to the tip which opens at 9.00a.m. Two cones across and a sign saying 'closed to change skips' (again). This annoys me so much, however the nice chap let me in as the bulldozer moved away for a while. I'm not sure why this can't be done before opening time or after closing time. Anyway, rubbish is gone. Then I went to the bank to change left over Euros into sterling. My bank is stopping it's travel money service soon so I wanted this off my hands.
Next was PO then hardware store and then the bacon roll shop on the way back to the car.Once home I emptied the washing machine and hung the clothes on the metal horse, turned on the dehumidifier and closed the door on it. Ate my bacon roll
and then 'read the papers' online.
Now going to do the final sort out of stuff for the weekend. I don't need much as it's only two nights away with one day of work related stuff and dinner with one of my nephews and his wife. Loads to look forward to. I realised a little while ago that OH is back on Tuesday :j so I need to get stuff ready for him. He's got a list of things to do around the house and the area so it'll need tight planning to ensure he gets round it all. No rest etc!
Judi - hope you're OK there and that bad DS has learnt his lesson.
PS in edit - almost forgot - also went to the local country store and bought two big bags of sunflower seeds and hearts and one of nyger seeds. All stocked up for the winter feeding of the birds. The bags are still in the car and I can't carry them, need to wait for a local to wander past and pressgang him into helping!0 -
So glad to hear tbat your MIL is in hospice....hopefully the family will cop on to make her last days as painless and calm as possible for her.
judi.......how awful, you did the right thing.
Hugs to all in need of them for any reason.
I have a question: is itless expensive to obtain 'foreign' money before you need it? I never get Sterling prior to going to visit DD2 in London, just withdraw cashnfrom an ATM when I get there. Reason for my query is that I have several times seen people refer to getting euro in advance of trip into euro zone.
