O/S Daily thread Friday 6th November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
For those who missed my post from last night, MIL is in the hospice and is already more comfortable.
Thank you for all your kind comments, Mr LW, your words moved me beyond belief.
Off to work now.

Morning Hester
I am so pleased MIL in now in the Hospice where she is more comfortable and I hope the next few days will be calm and peaceful for you all.

Morning all,
So relieved your Mil is in a hospice at last Hester. I read your post in the early hours but thought I'd wait for today's thread.
I've had an awful night. Just before midnight I had to get the police out to my middle son. As you can imagine I've not slept a wink. It's just reminded me of how weak and vulnerable I am on my own. A 5ft 53 year old is no match for a 26 year old 6ft man drunk as a skunk.
Getting the police out was the only way I could protect myself but now I've got visions of him lying in a ditch somewhere.
Onwards and forwards? Forget it!

Oh, good gracious Judi, that must have been really scarey for you, you must be so tired now.
I hope when he wakes up he is full of remorse, if he can remember, and I imagine DH won't be best pleased when he comes home either.
Judi, sending you a big, gentle hug, and give the dogs an extra cuddle today

Morning everyone.
Such mixed news already. Congrats to HH for sticking in and doing the right thing for MIL. Here's hoping all is peaceful now for her. Judi, how awful for you, I really can't abide drunken men who get abusive and use alcohol as an excuse for violent behaviour. Getting the police was your only and best option.
I was in a very deep sleep just now when my bladder woke me up, now I'm wide awake. Somehow I had moved right down the bed and was curled up so I couldn't 'find' the bedside table, went to the loo in the pitch black. Back in bed now but the cosines has gone cold!
Yesterday I did my pottering, mreading here, drinking tea there, answering emails and catching up with missed / recorded TV programmes. Finally I watched the Unforgotten in bed.
Today I have a bag to pack and clothes to wash. I'm off to Birmingham tomorrow morning until Monday. I decided to take the bus down to Glasgow for the train, never done it that way before so I hope that the coach has a loo on it.
Think I'll lie here a bit longer!
I hope everyone has a good Friday.0 -
Morning one and all. HESTER that's wonderful news. I hope MIL's final few days will be calm ones for all of you. JUDI oh what a night you've had. You had no choice but ring the police. Let's hope today he is full of remorse over his actions. Loving hugs to both of you and best wishes for peaceful times now.
All the DGDs are still asleep so enjoying my morning coffee in peace for a change. Once they have all gone to school I have the delights of a Friday clean ahead! Today's meals will be leftovers etc in the fridge. We are out most of tomorrow and then Sunday morning we go to Liverpool in readiness for Monday's treatment, and I don't want anything stagnating in there on our return.
Have a good day all ((((HUGS))))) to all those wanting/needing them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Morning All
Wet and windy here, no washing going out! DW emptied and heat logs put in the basket.
HH - Pleased to hear MIL has a place in the hospice at last, I truly hope she is comfortable, has peace and the BILs behave. Remember to take a little time for yourself, cry all you like, it will do you good. Big hugs to you and your DH.
judi - What a horrible night for you.
I was totally done in by the time I got home from the hospice last night, I did manage to give a coat of wax to the chest of drawers for DD, apart from that I laid on the settee and read! I'm hoping I achieve more at work today than I did yesterday, couldn't get peace to do anything!
Gers - Have a good trip.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Hester so glad mil had been moved and that she is a little more comfortable xx
Judi oh god lets hope he has woken with a dreadful headache and full of shame !
Off to work for me but at least its Friday, only three clients today so a relatively easy day and I can normally get away a bit earlier on a Friday.
Not sure about dinner yet we normally have a takeaway but I am working right next door to Mr T so might pop in there and get something.
Need to do a wash tonight and have a general tidy round.
Best news ever yesterday the old couple fostering noodles have got some help with her and have decided to give her a forever home :j I am so thrilled all that dog wants is someone to love !!
Have good days all xx0 -

Judi What a horrible night. Lock the doors, turn your phone off and try to get some sleep xx
redruby Noodles! I was over the moon to read the news yesterday, I'm so happy for her – and you

It was bin day yesterday. There was a woman going along the road, opening bins, glancing inside then ticking boxes on forms, which were posted through people's letter boxes. Mine was -
'Recyclable items were found in your black waste bin'. I went straight out and opened the bin, there was nothing but normal rubbish.
'You haven't presented a brown food caddy'. That's because I put any food waste in the compost.
Wonder if I'll be lined up and shot
On the plus side, I asked for another recycle bin last week and it arrived a couple of days ago, along with a small and large food waste bin. I have no need for the food bins so I'll find a use for them in the garden.
I'll be testing out the new cleaner on the kitchen carpet today. No plans apart from that, mr tru is home so will only disrupt me anyway
