Does credit card tarting affect your credit report?

Options
Can someone please give me advice?

I'm wanting to transfer money from my existing credit card to another that has 0% on transfers and purchases (I've noticed a couple out there, notably Halifax One) and would again like to do this after the term runs out. In other words, I want to tart!!
However, I have been told that doing this can affect your credit score, and as mine is pretty good at the minute, it's made me think again, and seek advice on this forum.

Can anyone clarify this for me please?

  • Unless you make several applications at the same time, you'll be OK.

Myself and many others here have been doing it for years with no adverse effects.

As already said it should not have any bad effect on your credit rating and may very well have a good effect over time if you run all the accounts well.
I have in fact previously made 5 applications on the same day with no apparent bad effect but this may not be the case for everybody.
