EE - Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo £22.49/mth - good deal?

Hi, I have been with Orange for nearly 12 years, last two years I have been paying £18ish for 200mins unlimited texts and 1gb of data per month. Just out of contract now and have enquired about upgrading to the S5 Neo, but have been told they don't offer any 1gb data packages for less than £22.49 incl VAT. They will chuck the phone in for free, and up minutes to 1000.

Another option I have looked at is moving to Virgin, where I could get an S4 mini, unlimited texts, 2500 minutes and 1gb data for £10/mth plus £8mth for the phone - total £18/mth

Basically my question is... is the S5 Neo worth an extra £4.50/mth or is it not so much better than the S4 to justify the extra cost?

I want a phone with a reasonably good camera, but other than that I generally use the phone for texting and internet (using approx 700mb/mth so really do need to go for 1gb deal)

Help!

I have had the phone for a couple of weeks now and the battery life is brill, not really tested the camera apart from a few test shots indoors and it seems fine. but the choice will be yours !

    S5 Neo 5.1" screen S4 mini 4.3"

    Neo 1980x1080, Mini 960x540

    Neo 16mp camera Mini 8MP.

The mini is nowhere near a match for the Neo, Do you mean the full sized S4?

    Neo 5.1" vs S4 5.0" screen
    432ppi vs 441ppi
    16MP vs 13 MP Camera
    5MP vs 2MP Front cam

Not a lot between the Neo and S4 (not the mini) As teh S4 is a few years old
you shold be able to get a good deal on one.

Just about to upgrade mine and stumped as to what to get next. Not keen on the S5 and S6.

But whats better than a S4?

  • What's the difference between a neo and normal s5?
    Far too many variants.

Neo and S5 are very similar, Different processor, Neo Octa core instead of the quad core, but its a lower clock speed.

Front cam on the Neo is better, but the camcorder is worse.

    Very little in it.

I don't get why Samsung have released the Neo if there's very little difference. It seems like they want to confuse the market.

Doesn't the neo use Samsung chips instead of Qualcomm It's probably a lot cheaper for Samsung to manufacture. Also No usb3 would keep the Licence fee downs.

It's a cheaper version of the s5, better in some areas.

If price is a reflection of spec, the 'normal' s5 is sold at Carphone Warehouse for £329.99 (on a reduction at the moment) and the 'Neo' is sold for £299.99.

Again, little in it with a suggestion that the 'normal' s5 is a slightly better phone overall.

Would the S5 Mini be an option? These Talk Mobile deals are pretty good and cover the data you need:

Their S5 deals are cheaper than what you've found as well, and I've found the service from the retailer and TM to be excellent.
