Thursday 5th November - What small DFW things will you do today?

Hi everyone,
Hope you're all well.
Just on my break at work just now, only a half day today but it's unpaid work that I get back as holidays in summer - would rather not take the holidays and use this as overtime but hey-ho it's compulsory.
Will go to my parents after this for some lunch (free!)
Will go to the gym afterwards, make best use of my membership and also get to use the shower facilities which is always nice. We currently stay with in-laws and they have no shower or bathroom lock so trying to relax and bathe in peace is always a challenge, believe it or not I look forward to the shower at the gym lol
I'll phone my phone company make sure that they have applied the credit on my account that they failed to do two months running
I raised a complaint online as well but had no notification of receipt and that's a couple weeks so will ask about that also.
Taking my wee girl to a fireworks display tonight, we're meant to go last night but my fiance overruled my suggestion that my team are playing on TV tonight (I suppose wee one is more important! Lol)
Also this is the first bonfire night with the dog, he does sleep inside and this is my first dog so not sure how he'll be as he is only a pup! We will see.
Have a great day everyone

Afternoon all,
Thanks for starting Clootiesmum and thanks to all for the advice the other day re. what sweet things I could take to work
DNMS -Go to the doctors. I left it for months/ years until I finally went. You'll feel much better afterwards
Yesterday was a NSD and I hope it will be another one today but I might need to get some sour cream on the way home to cool down our homemade curry for tea.
All meals from stores and I've managed to avoid buying cake and coffee at work (I have had 3 biscuits from the staffroom though... not good for my diet!)
Work has calmed down slightly thank goodness so I can take things a bit gentler this afternoon
We start our marriage preparation course tonight! Not sure what it's going to be like and neither of us are religious but I'm hopeful it'll be helpful :A
Banking checked. FPL/ surveys to do
Huge pile of ironing at home that isn't getting any smaller. I'll try and at least iron something tonight to wear to work tomorrow

Afternoon everyone. Long time since I last posted on the thread. I hope everyone is keeping well.
Some good news today - a refund of some interest charges from the bank. I took out a loan a few years back, when I needed to pay off my ex as part of the divorce. Apparently the bank should have given me information about the right to pay it off early, but didn't, so they have refunded the interest I paid - £251.62. Having received a tax rebate 10 days ago, I'm hoping these things really do come in threes.
This week, I've worked longer days in order to squeeze my working week into four days so I can have a day off. That should have been yesterday, but I had an appointment that I couldn't rearrange, so I've taken today off instead. Unfortunately, it has peed down all day, so I'm confined to the house.
Only minor small things for me today. I still have a carrier bag full of toiletries that I picked up from various hotels when I was working away in my last job, so I used some in the shower. Took a late breakfast of bacon and eggs that are getting close to their use by dates, so haven't bothered with dinner (or lunch for the benefit of the southerners). Tea will be chilli, using some left over tinned tomatoes and veg.
When I was little, my sisters and I were forced to open our presents really carefully, so that the wrapping paper could be reused, and I still do the same to this day. Used to drive my ex-wife mad! So this afternoon I will be re-using some old wrapping paper on some stocking fillers for the kids. I haven't bought much yet (I'm a typical bloke, so generally start my shopping around December 23rd), but at least it's a start.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
Afternoon all!
Got more blooming problems with the internet at work so hoping this posts ok!
DNMS - Please take care of yourself. Hope you feel better soon.
Today I have/will:-
* Check banks
* Do washing up
* Quick tidy around
* No TV on this morning
* Take sausages out of freezer for dinner
* Take lunch to work (although was naughty/still hungry so just bought a sandwich too!)
* Check FPL
* Order xmas present
* Text instructor about circuits tonight
* Delete some emails
* Peel potatoes before circuits otherwise will end up having a very late dinner
* Go to circuits
* Dinner from stores
Possibly have a day off tomorrow - waiting to see how busy we are and I don't have anything planned so would rather use it to visit friend and her baby once her OH returns to work to give her a bit of company.
Hope you all have a good day!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,100

Afternoon all

Thanks for the start Clootiesmum
DNMS, take care, hope you are feeling better today.
Horrible weather here today, absolutely pouring with rain
So far I have:
Bought potatoes from market, also some cheese and ham, all for £3
Also bought a pigs ear for pup, as he really likes those, but it really smells now I have given it to him :eek: I will have to light a candle. At least it is keeping him quiet, as he won't go outside to play this weather!
Popped into sales unit and topped up, as a few things had sold
Pulled some boxes out of the loft to rejig unit tomorrow (take some bits out, put some new ones in to make it look different - if it looks the same to someone who visits more than once, they tend not to stop and look)
Hoovering and floor washing - OH helped
Leftovers for lunch, and more bits and pieces for supper later
Done a couple of surveys, checked FPL
OH is off to DD1's later to fill in a big trench he dug a couple of weeks ago in connection with some work they are having done. He will be gone a couple of days. This is moneysaving as DD will be feeding him and not me
and also cost effective for DD as it would cost a lot more if she and her OH had to pay someone to do the work (OH has the necessary licences etc to use / hire the plant needed to do it). OH will enjoy his time playing with big toys, which he doesn't often do since he took early retirement from his job. Everyone's a winner
Not thought of any Mins items yet today - must try harder
Hope everyone is having a good day, despite the rotten weather

Decluttering Twiggy. I think you are supposed to get rid of one item on the first of the month, two on the second and so on, keeping going all through the month
Needless to say I am behind with this, as with many other things! 0 -
Thanks Dawn! I definitely need to declutter but not sure I'm brutal enough for that many! :rotfl:Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Afternoon to everyone.
This is my second attempt today - I spent about 30 minutes composing a post this morning, only for it to disappear! It was just as well that I hadn't got anything very interesting to say.
I haven't been around much this week to post, but have just caught up with you all.
We've been out & about looking for a carpet to replace our old & nearly worn out one in our living room. I keep moving the rug around to cover up all the worst bits, but I think the time has finally come to replace it.
I had a disaster last night when one of my crowned teeth (right at the front) fell out when I was flossing my teeth. As if that wasn't bad enough, I rang my dentist today only to find that he is on a 2 week holiday! They suggested another NHS practise that could help, & I am going to them tomorrow but it is an hour's journey away. I am having to keep my mouth shut till then, which as my OH says must be very difficult for me!
Determined - hope you enjoyed your lunch out & the company of your brother & aunt. Don't stress out about your circumstances compared to theirs - I'm sure they enjoy your company.
Bob - Glad you're recovering, but take things slowly and give yourself time to really get fit again.
Well, today I've taken the dog out twice but stayed away from anywhere I'd have to open my mouth & speak to people (the missing tooth!!).
A load of washing is sitting on the airer, but goodness knows when it might dry. I've hung up a couple of jumpers in the airing cupboard, they dry a bit quicker in there but it doesn't warm up much because I turn the water off after an hour.
I've got 2 boiled fruit cakes baking - it is a recipe given to me by a colleague many years ago, and never fails.
Must go - the timer is pinging to let me know cakes are done.
