fiftyeighter I'm sure you will enjoy it Our local U3A started just over three years ago locally and we now have 41 interest groups and over 300 members. I am co-ordinator for the Pub quiz and also help run the coffee morning. I have so many things that I do involving them I could be out 7 days a week if I wanted to. Lots of friendly interesting people to chat to. you will soon make friends I'm sure.

rotten rain this afternoon and my DGS have just come in from school drenched, but hot toast and a warm drink soon cheered them up :):)
  • Fiftyeighter...OH and I belong to the U3A, our group has over 600 members, good job they do not all come to the meetings, we would need a marquee!! I run one of three patchwork and quilting groups. There are at least 40 different groups run by various members.

We went to the stove shop this morning and saw the chap about putting the inset multifuel stove in, it is going to be done in the new year. Cannot wait!! We then carried on th Grantham to get a pair of sleppers from Aldi, I also bout 2 new pillows and a new vynil cloth for the kitchen table fron Dunelm which is on the same site.

Its a horrid dark day again, pouring with rain yukkkkk.

Finally home and what a day, thank you all so much for all your kind comments, it really cheers me to know I have people rooting for me.
Well, some good news today, MIL has finally been moved to the hospice, we have been to visit her and she looks so much more comfortable. We are looking at a timescale of day's only, but the change in her treatment has been incredible, she has pain relief via a pump, the right amount of pillows, an extra blanket on her cold feet & unlimited ice cream as this is all she can eat now.

I had a bowl of soup at 10:30 this morning & then nothing else until 40 minutes ago, we spent couple of hours with MIL, an hour with the staff who are speaking to FIL and encouraging him to visit, they have offered to protect him from BIL2 & hubby & I will take him to visit at the weekend.

We drove home through a downpour of biblical proportions, as soon as I'd dropped hubby home I had to go back out to collect neighbour and her dog, this took just over 2 hours, I suppose as the vet is charging £2490.64 she thought she'd best make the appointment last as long as possible.

I'm now trying to wind down enough to go to bed, I shall do a couple of rounds of crochet & watch some mindless TV, that should help.

    Hugs Hester

Just running in to send kind thoughts to Hester, I concur with all the praise others have given you, you will be in my prayers that you may have the continued strength to make your MILs last days as easy for her as possible.

  • (((Hugs))) Hester, hospices are so much better than hospitals for end of life care. I am pleased to hear that MIL is so much more comfortable x

As for your BIL's they need a good swift kick up the rear, the greedy %astar*s :mad::mad:

Cancelled the fireworks tonight, just too cream crackered, so we are moving it to Saturday night instead, all of our guests said that was a better idea and I was quite relieved.
We watched the town fireworks from the backdoor as usual and DH commented that the display is getting shorter, we had 20 minutes of the mayor prattling on and fifteen minutes of fireworks and the entry is £4.50 each  Glad we get to see it for nothing from the comfort of our nice dry house.

I am off to bedski in a moment and will make sure I take my pankillers tonight, with a bit of luck I will get some sleep

    Night night, sleep tight xx
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I am so glad MIL is in a hospice and it sounds as if she is much more comfortable and looked after already!

If FIL can see her and the numptie of a BIL can be kept away a bit and not allowed to rule the roost then all the better.

    Hugs to all
