O/S Daily Thread Thursday 5th November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all
Up at silly o'clock, I can't sleep, not that surprising really, things can only go downhill from here, lol.
I'm taking a small gift into hospital for a staff member who has been particularly kind, I may also buy a box of sweets for the rest of the staff as no doubt they will have to put up with all sorts of shenanigans for the next few days.
When we get back from hospital I have to give a neighbour a lift to collect her dog from the vets, her DD won't help as she's worried about getting hair in her car, I shall put a blanket down but I'm not that bothered.
If I can stay awake later I shall do some more crochet, I'm making a circular waistcoat at MIL's request for a neighbour that has been helping FIL.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Dear Hester
I read every day but don't post often but just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you at what is a difficult time
Families really should come together at times like this but more often than not they don't
I hope you manage to get some rest at some point today and as others have already said be kind to yourself and make sure you have some time out
Love

Morning Hester and all that follow.
Another one who didn't get much sleep last night, damp weather has really triggered my arthritis
I might try and go back to sleep for a few hours.
Had diabetic clinic yesterday and they have put me on yet another drug, this one has only been available for a year, what it does is makes you pee out excess glucose without the high sugar levels the added bonus is that it helps in weight loss. I know that before I was diagnosed and my sugar was dangerously high I lost nearly three stone, put it all back now thanks to insulin, so anything that helps get weight off and keeps glucose low has got to be good!
Having a few friends round tonight for some food and fireworks, which I am looking forward to.
Shopping day to day, so we will go as soon as DH gets in from his first shift.
Off back to bed

Good morning, that is a busy day ahead Hester, you may be too tired to sleep properly. Take care of yourself.
I am up and pottering on a wet, miserable morning. Am going out to lunch today with people from work, not very OS but the psychological benefits outweigh the cost or at least that is how I justify it.
Must book eye test due to persistent headache - keep forgetting.
Office all morning then back here to do reports for remainder of the day.
Wishing everyone a good and unstressy dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Big hugs to you HH.
Wet outside, washing dried in front of the stove last night after I went to bed. Ran vinegar through the WM after that wash as it was smelling a little fusty.
PL made, not much else needs doing. Training was good yesterday but didn't get the e-mail telling us it was earlier than first stated so we were late! Need to have a word with the new clerical bod about that.
Nothing much to report, hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all. Halleluja the fog has gone this morning!
Oh HESTER things go from bad to worse. I really hope you manage to rest and take a bit of me time in amongst all the traumas.
Two DGD up - one reading and the other watching Inspector Gadget. The middle one will be to waken up soon. They are back again after school and swimming club today. I have some mince defrosting to make a big Shepherd's pie for tea.
Had a lovely carvery and a bit too much wine last night! Also a good catch up with the "girls". The Toby was fairly quiet which made conversation easier too.
A pottering day for me. Some washing to do but I think pegging out days have gone now till spring.
Have a good day all (((((((HUGS))))))) to everyone in need and take care xx ps well done Scampi!!!!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Hester poor you, you are going through such a c**p time atm, sometimes a good cry does help xx
Scampi well done you are a good boy !! :T
Off to work for me its been a long week I had an agency staff in with me yesterday who was hard work, needed hand holding in everything he did, it was like having an extra client there, I was quite worn out by the end of the day ! I have requested that I don't have him again !!
Oven fish and chips tonight with peas, and I need to do a wash.
I alsl need to pack up a parcel to send back, I had ordered something for DD's birthday and without letting me know it was out of stock they sent me an alternative which was nothing like the original
Right have good days all xx0 -
Morning :hello:
Thanks everyone :T Bonios all round
Dumpling Scampi is one for deliveries too, he gets too excited (“Stranger at the door, I'll bark to make them go away!”) so I have to take him to the door on his lead, he calms down then assumes the parcel is for him
candygirl You should pop in more often
Hester Please take care of you xx
My carpet cleaner has arrived, I've put it together – for what you pay for these things, they should arrive assembled, don't you think?! - but won't be using it til tomorrow. I have a feeling Scampi will cause chaos so I need mr tru to keep him out of the way
I had planned to pull up most of the tomato plants (a couple still have tomatoes growing!) and tidy the greenhouses. This afternoon I was going to potter round the garden, pulling up dead plants, raking etc. but it's been raining on and off since lunchtime yesterday and the garden is very soggy. I'll probably leave it til next week now.
So I'm not sure what to do with myself today. I'd planned this week out so I'd keep busy and it's gone wrongThere's not much to do in the house, I'll just potter about this morning then have the afternoon off. I feel a bit deflated, lol.

Morning everyone.
Bit grey and damp here again. Same as yesterday.
Teaching went well, the group are slow to learn (as expected) so things are taking more time than anticipated. However, learning is more important than teaching so I take it all at their pace. The group is actually great fun so we're all enjoying it.
Today is going to be a quiet bimbling around the house kind of day. The colours outside are just beautiful so I may go out for a walk again.
No plans! :j
I hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Morning everyone,
Hester - as other have said please try and look after yourself, you do seem to be everyone's brick at the moment so are all the more precious!
Grey and cloudy walk with the girls, after yesterday's downpour the leaves are a soggy carpet.
The lunch with my friend was lovely, her twin boys are three and just gorgeous, so well behaved and gradually lost their initial shyness to let me share their colouring :rotfl: My friend went through quite a bit to have the boys IVF wise and it does your heart good to see her obviously enjoying being a mum.
Am off to the yard in a while, fingers crossed the rain keeps away for a while, then this afternoon need to go into town for a few bits.
Hope everyone has a good day and get well wishes to poorly folk. X0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a bit rainy here this morning and I think it will set in for the rest of the day. I don't know if it will put people off setting off fireworks though, they are pretty hard core around here. So far Max doesn't seem bothered by the noise which is brilliant but hubby has asked one of the girls to walk the dog before it gets dark just in case.
I had a pretty productive day yesterday knitting wise as I managed to make three owls, mind you as soon as they are made they are snatched up by my daughters :rotfl:. My new patterns have come to make christmas trees and baubles so I will try it out later on.
I am planning a pretty similar day today, find a good film to watch and settle down with my needles and yarn.
Oh Hester, I really feel for you trying to cope with all that, I hope your hubby is looking after you. You deserve a medal xx
In the spirit of Bonfire Night I am making hot dogs and baked potatoes for tea, providing Tesco delivers it later on :rotfl:, otherwise it's beans on toast.
Anyway, that's it from me, hope you all have a great day, take care xx0
