Best hair straighteners

  • My platinum ghd stylers stopped working and started flashing red. After numerous non-informative emails I called and was told this is fine as its a safely switch.

By this time I could have bought another brand but I believed the advise was correct and now it's happened again, and again.. With weeks when they work and then stop outright.

I have been told not only would it take 14 days to deal with by ghd but my same pair will be returned back to me if they work. This is not customer service.

These items cost £165 and they have only lasted a year? It's not worth it.

Can anyone advise a suitable solution whereby I can get a straightforward replacement without delay?
  • I’d recommend Karmin :T

How very odd. When my Cloud 9 broke 5 days before the one year warranty, I didn't expect much customer care, especially as all I had as proof of purchase was a page from ebay. All I expected was a repair, but instead I got a brand new upgrade model that arrived only 2 days after I'd send my old one back. That's the best customer service I've ever received!

Very odd since I understand it is the same company (or was?) as ghd. That was exactly a year ago and new hairstraighteners still working brilliantly (used every morning).

Are cloud 9s better or similar to ghds.

I think my ghds need replacing.
  • My hair is really thin and curly, it went curly and messy especially in humid conditions, on holiday in hot counties or under a bit of rain.

I tried all hair straighteners I could buy, but it made my hair really dry and damaged and in humid conditions the hair quickly became curly again

I had to carry a hair straightener with me and use it to style my hair quickly in club and restaurant toilets. However, all this literally fried my hair.

Someone recommended me a salon in Central London, and they said, just straighten your hair chemically with ONE procedure and do not worry about straightening it at all anymore!

I'm glad I did it, my hair is straight permanently! And my hair is back to life, as I do not use heat stylers so much anymore and the hair is neat straight after every wash and even in humid conditions!

I really recommend if you have very curly hair and tired of straightening it, try the permanent hair straightening chemical procedure: straight-hair-london.co.uk
  • When my GHDs broke I replaced them with Cloud 9, because there were lots of recommendations for them online and because people were saying that the newer GHDs aren't as good as the original models. I don't know whether the last bit is true or not, but can definitely say that Cloud 9s are great and just as good as GHDs.

I completely agree with this. GHD's first original models were very good and extremely powerful however I have had the newer version in the goldish colour and they aren't half as good. Was so disappointed. Now I have some Cloud 9 straighteners and they are definitely 10X better!

Puzzled :) How can you straighten you hair permanently when it keeps growing!! I clearly missed the trick as I find myself going to colour my hair over and over every 6 weeks when their must be a product that somehow colour the new roots coming up so I don't have to go ever again!

Had my Cloud 9 for two year now, used every day, still as good as day one!
  • I think it is better to test exactly on your hair to understand, which flat iron is perfect for you. Or if there is no such possibility, better to read a lot of reviews like this on BestAdviser . It shows all benefits and disadvantages of the presented straightener.

If only we could find an Indian based site that cobbles together generic reviews and then spams across the globe.

    That would be great.
