I use the Remington Shine Therapy straighteners and think they're great. I bought mine from Boots and used some advantage points to bring the price down. On my second pair now and I would buy them again definitely.

I use Bella Donna now after being a GHDer for years and years. I was finding that they didn't get as hot and my hair wasn't going straight (just like you), I bought a pair off amazon (they were blue) and after about 10 months they would just randomly turn off. I got in contact with amazon and they had no replacements so I had to have a refund. A week later I went to a wedding show in London and these were there. They are brilliant!

Definitely the Cloud. Amazing customer service too when I needed it. No don't work for them!

Cloud nines - the newer GHD models are completely different, as the people who used to make GHDs moved on to make Cloud nines, so if you're looking for old style GHDs cloud nine is your best bet.

I also have a pair of Philips straighteners whcih I got from boots a couple of years back as they are a lot smaller so good for my holidays, which are my back ups - the writing has worn off the handle so I have no idea what model they are!

While I can't say anything about hair straightening itself, I can say be careful where you get hair straighteners from. Fakes of the big brands are out there, and they can have safety issues that could lead to burns or fires. I've had a few people the past few years bring me malfunctioning hair straighteners that when taken apart turned out to be so poorly made and unsafe that I'm sure they're not the real thing. All of these people reported buying them from popular online auction sites, or sites with marketplace sellers. The outsides can appear quite convincing. It's a pity, but bargain hunting for some items can quickly lead you to fakes. There are items I'd love to bargain hunt for online, because I'm sure some real ones are out there cheaper, but with the fakes around who knows what you'll end up with.
  • i got this one 2 years ago, now it is doing well, think it it the best one, it can give you a beautiful hair style like u want , specially your hair is sitll safe with it instead with others one i did
  • I have cloud 9s too and really like them. I didn't like my original GHDs..I used to use FHIs instead, had a couple of pairs over the years. All of the hairdressers I had previously ever used, used the FHIs.

I got the cloud 9s on offer and I do like them. I also heard they are produced by the original owner of GHD, after he sold GHD off...not sure how true that is though!
  • My son says it's true - he works in hairdressing.
  • So GHD is the winner.
