Hello everyone,
My current all in one decided to stop working yesterday and I need to buy a new one. I'm not at all a heavy user (probably less than 10 pages a month) so I don't need anything fancy. If the print plus scan quality is decent and the cartridges are not a rip off (or cheap ones can be bought off of eBay) that's really all I need.
£50 is the maximum, I would prefer to keep it under £40.
I've been looking at the HP Deskjet 1510 for £35 but would be interested in knowing about any alternatives.
Thanks for reading.

Ah yes, expect all kinds of answers like "you want a laser" etc.
In my experience, whilst ease-of-use for HP is good it's the ink that'll end up costing you.
Try Epson; much MUCH cheaper compatible ink.

at under £45 delivered and you can (on the same page) buy three full sets of ink for under £7 delivered - with excellent reviews.0 -
You can get one FREE* from IJT Direct.
That link points to an Epson, several other manufacturers in the right-hand sidebar.
You just have to buy some ink cartridges...
*FREE might not be being used in the typical meaning of the word.0 -
I find they all bung up eventually after a similar timespan so I always suggest going for the cheapest reliable make/model available and not paying extra for fancy screens or other features and treat it as completely disposable.
Could you get the scanner separately? I'm still using an old LIDE 70 canoscan that's outlasted several printers (thin and easy to store plus being USB only can be used anywhere I go with a laptop)0 -
I bought a Canon MG3250 a few months back for about £40.Pair of genuine cartridges were £30.
Works fine,no problems although it is very slow to start printing0 -

Makes £52 (with extra 3 sets of ink ) look positively CHEAP!0 -

Thanks for telling me about this. Just to confirm, it does come with one set of ink right?

I did initially consider going this route but would really prefer to buy one thing instead of two and have more stuff on my desk. You can get one FREE* from IJT Direct.

This really doesn't look like a good deal considering what The Last Username posted.0 -

The ink it comes with is a starter ink. It will run out very quickly.
The ink you buy will have at least 4 times the ink of the starter cartridges.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I'm going to buy the printer now but didn't want to buy the cartridges right away. I didn't want to receive a printer and wait longer because it didn't come with any cartridges.0 -
