barclaycard to barclaycard transfer

Hi,

I currently have a BC. I have recieved an email from them saying they wanted to let me know about their transfer rate for Nov. Ive logged in to my account and can see an offer of:

0% until Aug 16 with 1.9% fee. £100 - £560 (or something close to that)

Does this mean i will be automattically accepted for that transfer? Im wondering if i can ring them up to see if they will let me transfer a little bit more than that. Is this something they can / will do?

Ive done an eligiblity check, however the other barclay cards balance transfers have come back at 0% chance of acceptance - probably because i already have a barclaycard.

Thanks

Not guaranteed to get it, it's just a pre-selection. (or junk mail)
I get them quite often from cards I already own, I think they are just sent out automatically from their mailing lists.

Also I do not think you can have 2 BC's. I'm 99.9% certain you cannot but someone else may be able to support this...

Yes you are guaranteed to be accepted for it, the offer is showing in your account.

The £100 - £560 relates to your credit limit. £100 is the minimum amount they will allow you to transfer and the £560 is the max. It's done based on 90% of your credit limit.

No you won't be able to transfer any more than £560, not unless you pay off and clear some of your current balance.

You were allowed to have more than 1 Barclaycard, however they have changed this recently and now it's back down to only 1.

Also just to add, you cannot balance transfer funds from one Barclaycard to another Barclaycard.

By the looks of it, it is a money transfer offer, so funds would be paid into your bank account and you could use the cash as you wish.

    Thanks for the replies..

Ive logged in to my account again to check and its looking like its letting me do it. So it must be offering me two.

I think you may be correct in only letting me have £560 as it seems to be an offer.

"As part of our ongoing commitment to you, we wanted to let you know about your transfer rate this month."

"We want to make sure you always get great value, so we've taken a look at your account to work out the best balance transfer deal we can offer you."

Also, they sent me a letter telling me they are going to increase my credit limit, by about £5,000 i think. I am about to cancel the increase. I dont think it has anything to do with credit limits. I think its just an offer for Nov and ive been selected. It might explain why it says up to £560.

I will be giving them a call after work. Hopefully i can transfer a bit more.

Has anyone else had this offer from barclaycard? It is not spam as ive got the offer in my account and is letting me go straight through to asking how much i want to transfer.

The £560 is related to your credit limit. I know this because I’m logged into my account and looking at my offer which is exactly 90% of the remainder of my total credit limit from where I already owe a balance on it.

Yes Barclaycard do these offers monthly. Search this forum for the numerous threads about. It's the same offer every month, the only variable is usually the fee which might drop from 2.9 to 1.9% or the months anywhere from 6, 9 to 12 or 15 months. You usually get 1 balance transfer offer and 1 money transfer offer. Sometimes you also get offered a life of balance offer. It is nothing new.

Like I said, the only way you can increase the amount is if you pay off all, or some of your current balance owing.

What is your credit limit? How much do you owe on the Barclaycard?

Thanks. well the 90% of available credit theory is out the window as it doesnt add up for me.

Anyway,..i will be ringing them anyway just to try it on. It also doesnt show any other details about the balance transfer so i will need them.

The 1.9% fee and 9 months 0% seems quite good then. on the lower end of the scale.

Question: If i transfer £500, pay it off. can i transfer another £500 on that same 0% before Aug 16 with the same 1.9% fee. Or will i have to wait for another offer? Not sure you will be able to anwser that but thought id ask before i call up shortly.

Will this transfer effect my credit score? Will it leave a search? im just transfering from within barclaycard and not changing my limits or applying for more credit.

No it doesn't work like that. If you took them up on the offer and used £500 of your available £560, then if you paid £500 afterwards it would just wipe off the £500 you've done for the offer so you would have wasted the £9.50 fee (1.9%) for nothing.

If you want to transfer more than £560 what is so difficult to understand that you need to pay off your outstanding balance first?

You wouldn't receive an offer in December if you used £500 out of your £560 limit because the remaining £60 is too low for them to allow a transfer.

There is no such thing as a credit score and no searches are carried out. It's called a promotional offer.

What do you mean by you are transferring from within Barclaycard?

Also, I note you didn't answer the questions I asked before about what your credit limit was and how you much you owed on it.

  • Hi, I have my balance transfer in front of me now that came through the post for this month (I got 0% until Feb 2017 with 2.9% fee) my partner was offered 0% until 1 May 2016 1.9% fee.

The info on the back of the sheet states "we accept balance transfers from all credit cards and store cards held with other lenders. We do not accept balance transfers from credit cards and store cards held within any Barclays group company....."

I think if you want to pay off another barclaycard instead of using a balance transfer offer you will need to use a "money transfer" into your bank and then use this to pay the card. Money transfers are usually for a shorter duration.

As you want to transfer more if possible why not let them increase your limit by £5000 you are then likely to receive further transfer offers with higher limits.
