Problems moving number from Sainsburys Mobile to Vodafone
With Sainsburys Mobile closing down I recently acquired a Vodafone Contract SIM and asked for my number to be transferred.
I had no problem getting a PAC code from Sainsburys Mobile but getting it transferred to Vodafone is causing endless problems.
Originally I was told I needed to have my phone turned off between the hours of 11am and 8pm for the transfer to take place. I tried that on two consecutive days and found my old Sainsburys SIM no longer works but the number has not transferred to Vodafone and calling my old Sainsburys number gives an 'incorrect number' message.
I phone Vodafone again this morning to find out what was going on and was told there had been a problem which she was escalate with high priority and now I apparently need to keep my phone turned on and if I see a network outage then I need to do a full restart and the number will then have (hopefully) transferred.
Has anyone else had similar problems?

Vodafone can't organise a p*** up in a brewery, it's a fairly common complaint that ports to and from Vodafone have problems. As does virtually anything else that requires their input to work.
You are braver than most putting your trust in that bunch...====0 -

If you look at any of the operators who have their own networks there's loads of complaints about them. Then the ones which are virtual networks can shut down at any time as I've just experienced with Sainsburys and have experienced with another provider in the past.0 -
LOL Vodafone MVNO to Vodafone port is internal, major fail. I would reboot your phone now two hours have passed, if no service I would be on the website chat facility so you can record your interactions with V by emailing such to yourself.

Nothing compares to Vodafone, you obviously haven't even had a proper look around this section of the forum to notice. Some days 90% of page 1 is just angry posters complaining about Vodafone.
They really are the hell on earth of network providers...====0 -

Yup, the moronic part is other Vodafone worldwide sister companies 100% owned by Vodafone have direct staff that provide great care, more exceptionally moronic is the british holding company are more interested in saving cash than providing good care to the very home market who made it a worldwide recognised brand by its revenue from the UK.
Its not like Voda UK is short of cash revenue in its home or worldwide markets to provide actual Voda staff on the phone and a decent standard of customer care as a thankyou to all customers past and present for lifting the company to its international status.
I will not return to Voda UK until such time as they address the third party failures and resolve to british jobs to british people without outsourcing to minimum wage profît grabbing companies.
Vote with my feet, I have had 4 horrific experiences with Voda since outsourcing. Misselling, fraud, port failures, charged for UK to UK texts (linked to port failure) whilst I was roaming with unlimited free roaming texts - new contract with a current payg active number (sorted but charged for payg texts on my contract) It took a amazing amount of time and effort to get them to take responsibility for THEIR actions.
V MSE rep just disappeared too, no communication...
VUK really are a failure, more YUK than VUK...SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

BT has lots of corporate landline, most governmental contracts too so them Voda contracts will move across, BT will probably buy corporate out of alot of Voda contracts including discounts for longer term contracts with them.
They should have bought Verizon out to a minimum 51% or bought T-Mobile as a whole group off the sale cash instead of short term thought of payouts to shareholders, having no major sister company worldwide with a bigger whack than BT revenue was a mistake and is a long term oversight for short term shareholder gains.
They will just move the Voda Worldwide and UK companies and Chief Execs to Luxembourger and become the worlds first licenced physical owning MVNO :rotfl: outsource, outsource, outsource, pay very little (none) UK tax.
'Thankyou Britain for making us, but things change, here's the divorce papers, we served a copy on HMCR first, please call our virtual receptionist in India on 191 should you require information'
Only in Britain!SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

Funnily enough yes I have had this exact problem, it took 8 days in all and I was without my number for most of it (i,e getting you have dialled an incorrect number when you called it). Although this was when porting to Sainsburys from tesco mobile https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5243812
During my experience it was clear to me that Sainsburys rely on vodaphone for all network related activities such as porting, and make a complete and utter dogs dinner of it all.
Vodaphone are without doubt the worst mobile network. I will never go with Vodaphone or one of their MVNOs again.
I moved to iD mobile and have been really happy with the better price, better coverage, and with 4G better data performance. My port from Sainsburys to iD was done in 12 hours.0 -

hope you reported the breach of porting regulations and guidelines to Ofcom, it takes one day, not 2, not 8.
I just ordered a ID sim, hope its better care than when CPW owned Talk Mobile.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

How? I did call ofcom over it and they told me "Ofcom cannot investigate individual cases".
iD has been ok if you can get past the indian call centers and crappy 4G speeds. Also the loose sim in a plastic bag isn’t the best first impression but hey it worked. I'll admit It's not the best network but it's not bad for the money.0
