    Seems appropriate!

Why can't they tell people that these things are going to change, or, for ease of use, just program the boxes to a full rescan whenever they move something. They programmed to check for new software updates, so why not for channels?

Some do. Our TV gives a big notification when you switch on that it has detected new services. You just say ok and it automatically rescans.

    Ah! :o

Ours must be a fairly old box, then as we have to do ours manually - I'll give it a kick and wind-up tonight when I get in.

For those that are getting ITV2 and ITV3 numbered as 801/802 etc.

In simple terms(because I don't know the techy bits) freeview channels are broadcast with a hidden ID that relates to what channel they are (something to do with how PVR's etc. sort out what to record and when). ITV2 and ITV3 recently amended the hidden ID they use to a new one. But most freeview boxes are simple bits of software, they just know that the lasttime it scanned for channels ITV2 was say ID:1234 now it is 5678. If you rescan without deleting the existing channels it doesn't find 1234 but assumes maybe its broken but it does find 5678. However it also knows that it has an ITV2 channel name stored as Ch6 so the default for dupplicate channels is 801 onwards. If you do a delete all channels first or an auto scan with replace it should put everything in the correct place.

With the E4/Film 4 +1/C4+1 changes they didn't change the hidden ID just teh channel number on one of them and the actual programmes on another.

A full rescan/first time installation of boxes will sort out any issues people have

I have re-installed all services from scratch, pressed "replace all existing services" and after an absolute age, it re-scanned and I now have Film4!

Thanks for everyones help and advice,
