Can't receive film4 on freeview

I can't receive film4 on my digi box. It is a Thomson, I have tried auto update, and the online tv guide shows film4 on channel 32, but when I press OK and go to the channel or press 32, it goes to E4+1

Very frustrating!

Have you tried re-scanning your box? Or is that you mean by auto update??

I'm on freeview, I re-scanned recently to get ch4+1 and mine is working fine.

autoupdate I assume is looking for new software, like urban spirit says you need to to do a rescan of channels. Channel 4, E4, Film 4, ITV2 + 3 have all been affected in various ways over last few days so a lot of boxes need rescanning

We have this problem but luckily we had Film4+1 - but aaaarrrrrggggghhhh, not as of the weekend thanks to the introduction of new C4 channels. The signal strength from the transmitter isn't strong enough to get FilmFour So no more films for us!

I have done auto update, but it says N/A version 5.0

I have also done "add new services" still nothing, what if I pull the arial out and try to start again from scratch? I suspect that like Danielle23 says, it may be that the signal isn't strong enough....

How do I do a re-scan?

I did an "Add New Channels" on my Freeview box and it did add but seemed to mix up the channel names
I then did a complete channel scan overwriting the existing channels and all was well
You will have similar options in your Settings menu

Try checking all your channels as due to the recent update with C4+1 I lost ITV3 and 4 from C6 and 10 but now found them at 800 and 801.

I think WobyTide is right. I noticed a green "NEW" tag next to Channel 032 on my Matsui box a couple of days ago in the programme guide. I also noted a red "DEL" tag next to 801 (didn't previously ever notice Film4 at 801??)

Anyway, Film4 currently works on 801 but not on 032 (you'd think it'd be the other way round wouldn't you?

So, just for the heck of it and all in aid o you good folks on MSE, I have these past 10 minutes removed the power from the box and just allowed it to do a full scan and replace all existing channels and now I've got no coloured tags, nothing numbered above 729, and 032 works!

So I suggest OP does similar - remove all power from the Freeview box for 15 secs and let it reboot and wait for it to finish automatically scanning like it was new! Generally works with all this snazzy electronic stuff! Switch it off and then after 15 secs switch it on again!

PS I had to do this more than once because the Auto scan twice stopped unreasonably right at the beginning of the progress bar at 0% No channels found. If it hasn't started moving after 30 secs it probably needs switching off and on yet again. Whole scan process normally takes about a minute to complete depending on signal strength/number of available channels in your area.

I thought Film 4 was on channel 29. Try going to that.

Not any more since they introduced channel four + 1, the four channels have shifted around a bit. Film four is no longer on 29, it's on 32 and there's no more filmfour+1. 29 is now E4.
