So it's down to Petplan as recommended by you or Vetsure as recommended by our vet who deal directly with the insurance company so that I don't have to find the money and then claim it back.

The dog is fine he had six staples and had them all out today.

The Out of hours Vet bill was £342 excess £99 and Animal Insurance payout was £208 so we only lost a little money. It was tense waiting to see if they would payout though after reading through the small print. If we had of gone for the £1000 stitches treatment I wonder how much of it they would have paid out.

I think we may go with Vetsure unless someone on here has strong objections.
  • Avoid this company. Our 19 year old cat never recovered from a tooth extraction and sadly passed away. We are totally deverstated and heartbroken-the house is so empty
Today AF told us our vets bill of £430 is not covered - small print - nor is a blood sample -small print
    AVOID THIS TOTALLY HEARTLESS COMPANY

You should always read the policy document thoroughly before taking out a policy so that you know what you covered for and what youa re not covered for.

Many companies will not cover dental treatment apart from accidental damage.

Those that do may have a restriction that the animal must have had a dental examination by a vet within the previous 12 months.and any recommended treatment has been carried out.
